For those of you who have tried or learned Mindfulness, where is the best place to learn it? Books or videos?

I read about Mindfulness so contacted o area Mental Health Team. They are running courses lasting 8 weeks and are free. I made a self referral and am awaiting a place on the next course which is hopefully next month. My Mental Health advisor told me to look at Mark Williams Mindfulness on you tube. I am with Derbyshire Mental Health Hope this helps

Thanks for sharing! I've recently been looking for ways to take some kind of steps instead of just letting this ruin my life. Therapy is not doing the trick. I'm going to try the videos.

I found Mindfulness: a practical guide to Finding Pease in a frantic world (Mark Williams and Danny Penman good - comes with a CD but also had been doing meditation for a while. Would recommend trying to join a meditation group if you can as that gives you someone you can talk to about practicing etc. If there is a buddhist meditation group then that is a good start but things like yoga are also related to practicing mindfulness - as is Tai Chi

I find Pauline McKinnon's stillness meditation very good, though I more often fall asleep listening. There is a free download on her webpages and she has a couple of books, too. She was agoraphobic before she discovered the techniques created by the late Dr Ainsley Meares.

Both its handy to have a book by your bedside, but also good idea to watch a video ,if you live in an area that does classes etc then that could be a help also ,good luck on your new life journey
