Happy New Year! I have been struggling with anxiety and depression since my early 20's. I am now 47 with 2 grown children. I have had long periods where I've been panic free. I take Effexor 150 mg and Xanax .50 mg, 3 times a day. I feel as if nothing is working. I am overanalyzing each symptom - looking it up online and basically freaking myself out. I don't know what to do anymore to help myself.

Hi Mdk618
This illness is awful.
I too over analyse all my symptoms which surely makes them worse.
Google is my biggest enemy but i only use it to try and reassure myself, which of course it doesn't and only leaves me with another illness I think I may have.
I feel absolutely awful the last few weeks.
With so many issues and symptoms it sometimes makes you feel mad.
I find when im busy its not so bad but it always seems to be there.
I really hope you find something that helps.
xx
Hello
You really need, if not already to discuss your symptoms with your GP,
Generally they would provide tests to put your mind at rest. You also need to wonder why you are suffering this condition and look at ways that can break the cycle of your anxiety. Some talking therapy may make you understand your body and give some coping exercises to put your mind at rest
Whatever you decide consider discussing your problem with the GP and ask for some proactive treatment plans that may be available

I too am 47 and have had anxiety and panic for almost 18 years, I was doing well until about 3 months ago, I had some huge changes in my life and a son that tests me at every turn. I went back to my GP and am having blood work done and if that all comes back fine it is back to counseling for me. I did bio-feedback about 8 years ago and it seemed to help a lot. I do believe some of mine is also hormone imbalance. I recommend going back to the GP also and just rule out anything else. Good luck.
