Said to leave and retest in 6 weeks. Does my medication need to be changed ? What are the possibly side effects from leaving it?

Thanks in advance

Hi Ter1.

I don't know if you meant to post on anxiety support as your problem is not anxiety related, unfortunately I am not well enough informed to offer any help with your problem but I wish you well and hope you get things sorted out.

Good luck Kenny xxx

Thank you

Hi Ter

I cant answer your question as such because there will only be your doctor that could because they are the professionals & they will have all your medical history & they base their decisions on what treatment & meds we need just not on results from tests but on our general health & history

It is not unusual though after having a test for them to request you leave it for several weeks to re test you again I think this is maybe to make sure any treatment they may decide to give you will be accurate

Could you see or phone your GP & ask if they could answer your questions , this would reassure you hopefully

I do know people with under active as well as over active thyroids & they do treat them very successfully & I am sure the same will be for you :-)

Sorry this may not have been much help but let us know how you get on & I am sure your GP knows what they are doing & wouldn't leave you that long if they thought it would cause you any problems as it would be more than their job was worth !

Love

Hi Teri your TSH results are a little high and no doubt your dr. will prescribe levothyroxine if they are the same in 6weeks. Nothing drastic will happen before then apart from probably feeling tired and cold. I began levo.when my TSH level was 8 and one of my symptoms was anxiety which is common for lot of people. The thyroidukhealthunlocked site is a wonderful source of information and support. Hope you are feeling better soon and keep your dr's apppointment because if you have an underactive thyroid it is vital it is treated as early as possible to avoid all kinds of problems as the thyroid affects every part of the body. Don't worry as this condition is very, very common.
