Had an interview offer

Iv`e just had an e mail from a cleaning company asking me to come for an interview, but sadly I won`t have the fare to get there thanks to my benefit sanction. Iv`e had to tell them this in my reply. How on earth do the DWP expect people to get off benefits under these circumstances?

I v`e just had an e mail from the company saying that I can come in on the 6th, as long as I`m there between 10 & 12 oclock.

I don't know if this is still available, but I discussed your problem with my wife, who spent all of her career in the Job Center . She said under these circumstances there were funds available to provide transport e g bus fare to attend a job interview, upon production of a letter inviting you to go for the interview. Talk to an advisor at the center, explain you are unable to self fund to get there, and is there any assistance available. As whywhy said how do they expect people to attend interviews, if no money. After all their function is to get people back into employment.
