So here I am again going on about my old (as whywhy puts it) famous heart lol.
I'm just sitting thinking bout it as I've just had a little run of heart palpitations getting ready for work there and I thought I wonder who on the site actually worried about their heart and who suffers heart palpitations frequently?
Guess I'm just curious as to how common it is in anxiety sufferers
Reminds me of that song This old heart of mine, Rod Stewart did a cover of it
I do get palpitations sometimes but it doesn't really worry me for some reason , soon as it stops I just forget about it , I should be worried as Im a smoker and don't excersise and my Dad died young from heart attack he was only 6 years older than I am now x
See I've tried to give up the ciggies, only seems to the weekend I really crave them, but I think the fear that they were gonna cause heart palps put stop to that. Lol
I did think of that rod song when I wrote this haha ;-)xx
When I am in a very stressful situation I get them and I try and breathe deeply and sometimes take rescue remedy which seems to help. My partner gets tyem a lot though and they have been increasing in frequency. I lot of stress at work and with me at the moment. They make him feel really sick and I think he may even have been sick. I have nagged him into getting a doctor's appointment as it is very distressing for me as it is obviously for him when he is having them at the side of me as I am driving the 230 miles back from Glasgow.
Thanks for your reply. O/h has appointment for Monday. Thought he had one for Tuesday this week but admin error and didn't have one at all! This was a real pain as he doesn't drive and work is a train and 2 buses away. He was not a happy bunny. We don't live in Glasgow we were visiting son who is at uni there.
Oh right I see, I live just outside Glasgow that's why I wondered
Well you'll need to let us know how hubby gets on. Hopefully they are just benign and nothing too serious.
Xx

Hello you
I guess I am starting to get over them better as this morning when it happened I was kind of laughing which isn't like me. I'm going to go a big massive walk tonight when I finish work, sometimes I think my dinner doesn't helped, it never settled and I can feeling it coming back on me all night which in turn makes me start to panic.
My CBT lady truly believe that I'm gonna come out the other side of all this. Dunno if it's just hopeful thinking from her or if she really thinks so.
Xx
Me me me lol u know Iam ur partner in crime where this is all concerned lol. Totally obsessed about my heart and the palps I get do differ daily in the severity of them very very weird xxx

Hahaha yes we are an awful pair when it comes to this.
Hi Ashley. When I first went to my GP about my phobia/ anxiety problems he referred me to a psychologist for CBT. I really wanted the GP to change my meds as I have been on the same ones for many years and I believed there were more modern ones that would help me. But no, he said I would be ok on those and I would get better. The psychologist also said the same.
I was not impressed as I was in a terrible state , believe me.
But, I am pleased to say I have come out on the other side although I have a tenuous hold on it at times.
My life is more liveable and whilst I am not 100% , I am heaps better than I was.
I still have anxiety but nowhere near where it was and I can relax now which I could never do before.
So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope that you find it soon. Julie xx
I have had the most strangest feelings in my heart for example: feeling like its 'flipping' or 'turning', palms, constant fast heart rate, skipping beats, pains, stabbing pains, irregular beats, complete random fast episodes of beats, being able to CONSTANTLY feel, see and hear my heart beat and If it was down to my own diagnosis I must have had a million heart attacks and all the rest. I've had a 24 hr ECG and numerous normal ecgs and nothing was found I hate it I don't want to feel my flipping heart beat every minute of the day I'm sick of it and if you have the same symptoms as me you'll probably feel the same I hope one day the symptoms stop and we can all feel normal. Try not to worry the more you think and dwell on the sensations the more you feel them find a distraction or move about then you won't be able to feel it as much hope something helps x
Yes everything you describe is something i've had at one point or another.
I think the fact it effects my sleep as well really gets to me, like if I've had a good sleep I don't mind so much as I feel more positive but when I'm feeling like a zombie, it's a hundred times worse.
I get exactly this same and I'm just sat here worrying, thank you for sharing x
Yup Im always obsessed about my heart.... I get palps and skipped beats, but when Im anxious I get upset tummy which gives me indigestion and I get pains in my chest, and then I panic Im having a heart attack...... I can actually bring on an anxiety attack thinking its my heart.............
I think its quite typical for anxiety though!!
Guess were all similar with this one!!

Hey Anne
Yes I'm seeing a trend now, it's mad to think that something like this can have such an effect on your heart but I do take comfort that everyone seems to have had problems regarding the same thing.
