I need to ask does anyone suffer from body weakness, by this I mean on walking legs feel very weak, I do lay down a lot, but have recently been going for short walks 4 to 5 times a day, but still have this weakness and like no energy. I am taking citalopram for anxiety, but with no effect yet.

I suffer from health anxiety and am a recovering alcoholic.I do not go out much and as I live in a small bedsit I spend a great deal of time just lolling on my bed doing nothing.
Two days ago I forced myself to go out for a short walk.My anxiety was not bad but I managed to go about twenty yards when my legs just went like jelly and I had to sit and rest before I could walk back home.
I think it is just lack of exercise which causes your leg muscles to weaken.
Sounds to me as though you are doing very well, wish I could get out more often!
thank you Bertty, its good you did get out even if it was short walk, maybe when you feel ready you could do each day just the once .mine are not long about 7mins and back to house. The as you I am back on the sofa, back with all the anxiety symptoms, and yes I do think it lack of exercise, but feel so rotten a lot I don't do anything else.
I have felt like this for a while but doctor cannot find any physical problems keep trying to do a small amount of exercise stress cause so many symptoms. Good luck
Thank you, yes bertty said as well lack of exercise, and yes stress can cause a lot. I worry bout anxiety all day to the extent that I feel physically ill and end up in bed early.
Yes that is another problem that I have.To escape the anxiety and worry I often go to bed far too early and then find I can't sleep and lay awake all night.worrying and worrying.
Yes and it seems that anxiety takes over our minds, we get symptoms worry about them then we get more then more worry, like on a loop. I have taken myself to bed now, had enough for another day, made myself feel ill with worrying. I do wake sometimes at night but not often, I think because I am glad to sleep to get away from it all.
I don't have body weakness myself, quite the opposite actually I am always buzzing about, but my mum developed physical problems due to anxiety - her leg muscles effectively wasted away due to inactivity...don't know if its a common thing with anxiety...don't know how bad she was with it because she ran off to Wales when I was 8, I know that her fella used to take her out in a wheelchair...

I was most anxious when I was working full time at a job I absolutely hated. I was there over 5 years and hated every day. I was so worn out with depression. stress and anxiety that I often slept for 12 hours a night. It wasn't so much the physical side because it was a sit down job. But the endless re training and crap really got to me.
I am out of work now and made a committment a couple of years ago to take my sisters dog out every day. My sister can't go far because she has severe osterarthritis and walks with a stick. I have to get myself out because I would feel too guilty if I didn't take her. I find I can walk a lot further than I used to and I push myself as much as possible. If sometimes I am too tired to go far then so be it. When I can I do. Excercise is good. But I wouldn't do it without the dog I must admit.
Thank you bev, I was also doing a sit down job which was very highly pressured and a lot of repeat training. I am taking citalopram but only have for 4weeks, and just increased to a 20mg, I am hoping things will change a bit soon.
yes i get that a lot,in fact it was so bad i thought i needed vitamins,so i started taking centrum silver,i'm only on them a few weeks, but i think they are making a difference,i havan't the energy to walk far,i get so weak,it can be the anxiety, when i'm feeling calm i have loads of energy, but magnesium, and all the B vitamins can be good for anxiety, worth a try.xxxx
