hello community! So, I have noticed that gut health plays a huge role in our mental health. So, unfortunately to me, it's been more than one year that I have been struggling with gut problems which includes indigestion, bloating, constipation, heart burn, upper middle abdominal cramps that radiates to the back. EVERY-SINGLE-DAY π I've seen doctors and have had tests run, from CT scans, to blood panels, to both endoscopy and colonoscopy. Every thing seems to be fine on paper, but here I am, rolling in pain once again. It seems to be an invisible disease and something that's hard to diagnose. I did end up paying out of pocket to see a natural doctor, which will eventually run their own tests. They did mention a possible leaky gut, microbiome disruption etc... but I feel like there's nothing out there for me to do. I feel so frustrated and this has not only impacted my physical health but also my mental health. I often feel jittery, irritated and anxious. I don't think I'm alone in this. So if there's anyone out there who has gone through this and has found a way out, please help me. I'd take any advice now.

gut issues π© help!!!!

Your gut produces Serotonin like your brain does, your gut has a lot to do with your immune system. Pre-biotic food for your Probiotic gut flora is as important as your mental health maintenance. They both help us cope with our mental health issues.
My son has been through similar issues, he's 15 and half. He's been taking some Miralax to help, and also some Escitalopram and Dupixent. He also had both endoscopy and colonoscopy. But he's also dealing with some ADHD and OCD and anxiety, for which he's refusing help (we've been through several therapists).
Maybe anxiety is linked to gut issues? I feel the same sometimes when I am overly anxious, my stomach is not feeling great. I also did some food changes, I converted from coffee to tea among a few things.
Sorry this is my first time writing on this platform, I hope my son's story can help in any way.
Hi MandyBueno, I would think the colonoscopy etc would have addressed leaky gut, I asked doc when I had my colonoscopy and he replied, "Oh no!" as in no I didn't. As for bloating and indigestion etc I had good luck on Adkins diet primarily of meats and vegetables, no dairy (soy milk instead, etc), and eliminating spicy foods. Also, I have found that Metamucil 1 heaping teaspoon mixed in with my quinoa, 10 grain cereal, banana, blueberries, vanilla soy milk, and vanilla coffee creamer has really helped with keeping regular. It doesn't seem like probiotics in pills has helped. I've mixed Kimchi with whatever meat you want to make a "chili" may be helpful re probiotics. Also, zero fat plain yogurt ("vegetarian friendly") by Fage, may be a good source of probiotics, I'm not sure how well it works for you but good product. I assume your natural doctor may be the same as seeing a good basic nutritionist for a diet plan. Having said all that, I would try Adkins diet, including Metamucil in a cereal in morning like I mentioned, eliminating dairy and see if that helps. I might try that before any probiotics. Berries are probably a good fruit for dessert or snacks. Good luck MandyBueno.
Hi MandyBueno, one other thing, I recall not long ago you were having some disagreements with your husband. If those issues have not resolved or did not resolve in a satisfactory way for you, that most likely would definitely contribute to the symptoms you are having over last year. Good luck...
I've had gut issues on and off for years after abusing antibiotics when I was younger and had no clue how bad they can be for the gut. I had chronic sinus infections for years and still occassionaly get them which led me to figuring out I had candida and sibo. I worked with a functional medical practitioner who did testing which helped so my suggestion is to find a functional medicine practitioner or naturopath that focuses on treating the gut and work with them, you won't get appropriate help from you doctor. There is also a lof of good info on youtube about this so you can educate yourself about it. The gut and the brain are directly linked so it definitely impacts your mental health.
Makes sense when you bring up the antibiotics. For a solid year and a half I had a repetitive case of UTI's. In one year alone I had like 12 utis and with that a lot of antibiotics... I was put then in a low dose antibiotic which I have been done taking it for a few years now but I wonder if all of those antibiotics set me up for this.
