I feel like my therapist just goes thru the motions & wants me to bitch and complain and all she says is I'm sorry thats been your experience and collects a check ......

Honestly my options are limited due to insurance and I've been thru so many and its so draining hiring a new one and starting from scratch

I see but your mental health and health depend on this. You have to choose someone more talkative, open and concerned, phone interview them

sometimes things just take there time to happen and you need to give yourself opportunities or chance

I have the same experiences. I've tried with several. The real shame is that we don't have anyone in our lives we can talk to who actually care and who we can reciprocate that caring with. Even partners can be closed off and only share with paid professionals. It's sad really. I feel for you.

hi Irishmexi35,

What I did was tell my therapist that I want to be challenged. I want someone who will push me and challenge my thoughts and beliefs. It helped me to get more out of the sessions. Be forthright about what you want to get out of therapy. If they’re any good, they’ll accommodate you.

what do you want to achieve? Write out 3 goals. Ask her to help you define how to meet these goals. Then actively work on goal one and define what to do. Keep track of how many things you did in between sessions. Rate your success. Therapy should be directed not just sit and ramble

keep going , that’s how I felt when I first going to my therapist, but it’s the process.

Yes. I had the same experience w/PhD psychologist - no constructive treatment plan- so I fired her.👋

It is my belief that therapists, and doctors in general, only get paid if you are ill. They don't make money off of healthy people.
