Hello and welcome to the group.
I can understand the problem you are facing. Although I am not yet at retirement age, I can understand the feeling of anxiety and depression when there is nothing to do because I do not have a regular job at the moment. In the past, when I was busy working a lot in the office, I used to think that it would be great if I could work freelance or have enough money to take a break from work and enjoy life. Now, because of family circumstances and health, I cannot do a regular job at the office anymore, I realize that staying at home is not as interesting as I thought. Working is not only about bringing an income but also creating motivation and goals for us every day. When we focus on work, our mind will not be dominated by random thoughts.
In your case, I don’t know how your physical health is now. If your physical health allows, you could try some volunteering works at some charity groups, or maybe try gardening. I suggest you to try the volunteer clubs as it allows you to communicate with others. You could also adopt a pet to keep you company. And if you want, you could come here and talk with us.
I hope you could find peace soon
All I can say is to keep writing to people here. It's no answer, but now I feel very supported and understood. I don't know what you've tried - meds, counseling?
