Just started taking Zoloft for my anxiety/depression. Who else takes it and do you take it in the morning or at night? I've been taking it in the mornings, but I think it's making me drowsy.

Hi there! I'm on zoloft too currently (I'm on 100 mg or context), in my research and talking to my psychiatrist, Zoloft typically keeps me awake so it's best to take it in the morning. But there are different reactions to medications such as these! :)

Is it helping your anxiety? I'm just on 25mg.

Honestly, since my doses have been progressively increasing, I’m not sure if I’ve seen the full effects just yet. My anxiety is still present, but slightly more manageable. I recently had an attack so I think it still takes time to adjust to your system. I’ll have to check in with my psychiatrist soon. Hopefully I see some changes in the upcoming months.

Welcome to the community

Anytime I started a new med I would feel drowsy etc. for up to a week or so. The effect did wear off.

I remember Zoloft making my head feel funny for awhile.

Check with your doctor and maybe you just need to change your time.

Best of luck

Hi! I was on Zoloft for almost a year and a half. Great medication 💊 for anxiety ,with one major drawback ,at least for me....Weight gain...10 kgs in 6 months. It fixed one problem and it created another..I had to add Wellbutrin, because the situation was uncontrollable....

I am sorry that happened to you. 😞 Some of the side effects of different meds can just be awful.

Everyone is different.,,,,, took Zoloft for years, didn't work, just bad side effects and long-time withdrawal symptoms. Counselling and a good support system works better than any drug I've taken.

I just got back into therapy. I'm hoping it helps. I'm really struggling. My anxiety has been so severe. 😞

That's great that you're in therapy; having someone to talk to is great....even though you don't feel great. Having severe anxiety is the worst, you feel so alone and scared. Millions of people have had this at some point in their life, so it's not your fault at all. It;s just scary because it feels like it'll never go away.

what sort of side effects did you have? I’ve had an awful tummy

No tummy problems, just severe anxiety, can't sleep, ringing of the ears, and no letup of the depression.

No, but I have one! I love animals, too. What pets do you have?

I'm taking 100 mg a day in the morning. It does help with my anxiety, to a certain extent, but when I bumped it up to 200 mg it made me more anxious, so 100 mg is my limit. I manage my anxiety with that, Buspar, and therapy.

Thank you for sharing. My doc mentioned Buspar, too.

It will do that (i.e.,make you drowsy). My suggestion is to continue taking it in the morning. In time, the drowsyness will lessen, or go away entirely. It did for me.

I have been on Zoloft for a few years. I take it before bed. It made me sleepy about a month or so but that goes away. Hopefully it will for you, too.
