Here again.. Fawning trauma.

I can't sleep tonight. My mind is always racing of the would've, could've, should've, and the now. Anxiety and depression is always there. Many times I get flashbacks of the past and how I should've handled it. I hate to be lost in my mind. I have so much to vent about I don't know where to begin.

I often find myself in one of the trauma responses, but I just learned of the fawning. I can see that I used that response very often. I struggle with communication and emotions too.

If you see a therapist, how does the therapy help?

Therapy works by 1. teaching you ways to manage your emotions,

2. teaching coping mechanisms and

3. developing goals to decrease symptoms and ultimately improve your emotional and psychological well-being.

What's your experience in therapy? Has it helped you? I understand the txt book benefits, but in my experience it hasn't been any of the listed above. I'm seeking a new therapist now.

I have been lucky to have found therapist's who I could work with. It's about being able to say openly & honestly what's on your mind and feeling the therapist gets you without judgement. When you look for a new person try and ask about their experiences with your particular issue.

Don't get too hung up on textbooks. They limit your ability to engage fully in the therapeutic relationship. Go with your immediate needs as the client which are unique to you.

There is a great therapist out there for you.

It's great you have become more aware of your fawning trauma response. I'm currently exploring this by reading articles and watching YouTube. Avaiya has good info on codependency.

I think it's useful to research the subject on your own alongside therapy. It adds depth and further understanding.

In therapy I'm looking back at how I was brought up and seeing how fawning was something I had to use to survive.

Yes, therapy can help. You will at least initially be prescribed medications to help mitigate your intense symptoms so you can do the needed. Work. You will explore your feelings, the origin of your symptoms and managing your triggers. There are a lot of stress management and ptsd techniques nowGood luck
