It only takes a few minutes to realise how desperate people are , try and be available if at all possible (possible trigger warnings ⚠️)

I'm a survivor of witnessing my friends suicide many years ago. I was visiting a friend yesterday and seeing a young lady turn up at there next door neighbour didn't really fire up any particular reasons to be be concerned, however I've now found out that the young lady was trying to reach out for some support, I'm devastated to know she went home and committed suicide, leaving her young children behind her, we have certain area's of social media watching our every steps or how people post things on Facebook etc, and it's picked up fairly quickly, I'm wondering if these companies should employ mental health care professionals to monitor these accounts if possible of course, the friend she was visiting was at home having a shower, but didn't get chance to open the door, the lady concerned had already posted things up recently and medication was talked in detail, I'm lost beyond word's that if I intervened things would be different today, a tragedy and its hard to understand 😢

No matter what you could or didn't do would have made no difference. Often survivors guilt happens, especially after the trauma you have already experienced. If someone is going to take their life...they will...eventually .... or they will get help hopefully. I'm so sorry you have experienced such a horrible trauma, and I'm sure this poor person's act of desperation played hard on your triggers. It's not a bad idea if you are in therapy to go and talk this through, it's a terrible shock.

you had no way of knowing why she was there. It’s unfortunate that people close to her didn’t see the signs. But like others have said if she was determined enough she would have found a way. We can only be thankful that her children are safe. I agree that you should reach out to your dr or therapist and talk about it with a professional. Hugs to you.
