There is going to be strangers in my room, changing the light bulb that my roommate broke. How do I manage this when the strangers are going to be in a tight space near me? How do I calm down and not make a big deal about it? How do I control my body movements, so it doesn't appear weird to them? They will be here soon. Just some of the thoughts I'm thinking and questions I have.

Strangers in my room. What do I do?
Find something to focus on (online or otherwise) and they will be gone before you know it.
But I need to stop avoiding people. I did preoccupy my time with things I was doing on my phone and computer, but I was still focusing on them more than I wanted to.
But you did it! You stayed in the situation. Did anything bad happen? I would take that as a win Eric, good job!
I get scared I'm going to fumble on my words or not say anything if a stranger speaks to me.
I'd like to say most people fumble on their words at times. We're not perfect, we are human. When I fumble, I just say excuse me and start over. It's okay to acknowledge someone with one word. No one is asking you to hold a big conversation. I've said good morning to folks while I'm out walking, and some completely ignore me, I just go about my walk without a second thought.
they get paid and they ok with everything
I do maintenance in care homes etc. I'm not looking at the people who's rooms im in, I just concentrate on the job in hand. Hope this helps.
They are there to do a job, that's what they will be concentrating on
