A close family member was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and I was wondering if any of you is a cancer survivor and has any advice that can help to increase her chances to survive. No one in my family has ever had cancer before, so this is a real shocker. I don’t even know what to tell her or how to help her. Any advice would be appreciated

Is any of you a cancer survivor?
Hi Lovely, I'm a breast cancer survivor of 11 years, and I've also suffered with anxiety for most of my life. I think you and your mom need to know that isn't a death sentence! It's very survivable. Your reaction to getting a cancer diagnosis is completely normal.
First your mom is going to need a treatment plan which will likely consist of some type of surgery. Then she will most likely be seeing an oncologist to advise her on what treatments she will need after surgery - medications, possibly radiation, chemo, etc. All breast cancer is different with different treatments available.
Please don't panic. Most hospitals have nurse navigators to help your mom through this. Support groups can also be great. You're not alone!
Hi Anelia, thanks a lot for your kind and thoughtful response. It’s actually not my mom, but my sister in law. She’s like a sister to me. And you’re right, we are terrified. Apart from following your treatment and keeping calm, are there any other things that helped you to fight cancer? Were there things that others did for you that helped you during that time? I’d like to support her, but I don’t know how. I’m glad to hear that you are cancer free. Thanks again!
I'm a cervical cancer survivor and my best advice is to surround your loved one with family, friends, and fresh flowers🌱🪷🌹🌺🌻🌼🌷
My wife is a breast cancer survivor. We did all the things others are saying but I swear it was her positive, strong attitude, her: "I'm gonna beat this" that did it
Ask the oncology team for a referral to a good website that has the most up-to-date information about top research in the field, best doctors, managing side effects, clinical trials, nutrition, managing stress, etc. Don't depend on popular ideas about what works and what's bad for you.
Google can help if you're able to reject pop opinion.
