Late evening 90% ok; morning 99% dreadfull

For years now I've been going to bed feeling reasonably content 90% of the time. However, almost every morning I feel dreadful. It can range from a heavy brain fog to extreme anxiety and suicidal thoughts.

I have asked psychiatrists (plural) and my endocrinologist for answers to this, but I've drawn a blank every time.

So I'm asking the people who may have experienced this phenomenum: you guys! Can anybody help me please?

Hi. I can relate to this. After taking a B12 vitamin for nearly a month now, I have noticed that feeling of dread in the morning has disappeared. I can't tell you how, but it has. I originally took it for fatigue and I'm amazed by the positive impact it has had on me physically and mentally. It might be worth a try. I hope you figure out the cause.

That is a coincidence. I just started (today) to take vit B Complex. Is that the same? Thank you ACE135

I don't think it is the same. I think vit B complex is a mixture of vit Bs that may include B12 at a possibly lower dose. From my understanding, vit B12 has 4 different types - Methylcobalamin, Adenosylcobalamin, Cyanocobalamin, Hydroxocobalamin. I'm taking B12 Dual Power by Nutrition Geeks which has Methylcobalamin and Adenosylcobalamin. Learning about vitamins is never ending and everybody may react differently - what works for me, may not work for you. I've learned it is about experimenting and finding what works best for me. I am also looking at the ingredients as some companies put a lot of unnecessary fillers in their supplements. I have found it exhausting researching, but taking these vit B12 have increased my energy levels and reduced muscle pain after a year of me feeling like I was walking against water, like having a heavy weight all over my body. My GP tried to blame it on depression and anxiety, as that way they don't have to look further into it. I'm glad I didn't take their word for it. I am now looking at vitamins for hairloss and tinnitus. Wish me luck! Let us know how you get on.

Thank you. I've ordered the B12 as you describe.

Hi PillJunkie, I’m sorry you are experiencing these issues. There are so many sides and causes to your symptoms, which by the way many, and I mean many of us here experience sometimes on a daily basis. You are not alone, for sure. Are you on medication right now ? Sometimes antidepressants produce those side effects- dreadfulness, suicidal thoughts, brain fog. Change medication if that’s the case.

Brain fog can be much improved by modifying your diet. I learned this recently, when I was trying to find a way to get rid of brain fog, which affects me every single day. I modified my diet and it improved let say from my mind being 80% foggy to 40%. Controlling blood sugar levels is excellent to improve brain fog. So, learn ways to reduce your blood sugar levels.

Dreadfulness sometimes doesn’t have a real cause, but other times it is caused for something very real. I learned the following from my psychologist. Write down what you are thinking about when you’re afraid. What makes you feel that way right in the morning? It’s super helpful to know what is producing that reaction. Maybe you spend too much time alone? You have family problems? Dig deep, maybe there is a real cause. Once you find it you can address it. Hope that helps you a little bit. Hang in there and reach out as often as you need it. There are very thoughtful, kind and friendly people here that can help you

Thank you, Lovely2024, for the depth of your response. I am on a whole cocktail of drugs and my psychiatrists have made numerous changes over the years. I will experiment with cutting down on certain meds to see if that makes a difference.

As regards blood sugar, would you recommend Berberine?

The elephant in the room is family problems. These aren't going to ease anytime soon, unfortunately.

You are very welcome! I’m sorry about ypur family problems. Yeah! It’s awful, I know. It’s a good idea to see if less medication would help with those other issues, though … crazy, right? Just do it under supervision, things get really crazy when cutting medications unsupervised, I’m sure you know this. As for berberine, to be honest I’m not sure, but I can recommend you the videos where I learned about glucose (I’m still trying to understand it better): look for these videos: “#1 Harvard doctor the most harmful foods causing brain disease” and “The sugar expert - Everything you need to know about glucose spikes”. A supplement you can check is creattine, it seems to improve blood sugar levels. Best of luck!

I suffer from MDD and mornings are the worst for me as well. I think because I know I have the whole day ahead of me to have to battle and struggle through that horrendous feeling. My mood seems to lighten close to bedtime when I know I can crawl in my bed and doze off to sleep and escape the pain. thank God I can sleep pretty good. I believe my depression is treatment resistant as no meds have helped thus far. The fact that I know I'll get some relief come evening time is what keeps me going. I'm considering TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) at this point. Best of luck to you going forward.

I'm really sorry to hear that, jikreamer. It sounds more severe than what I experience. I can certainly empathise with the feeling of relief at bed time. Good luck with the TMS, if you decide to go for it.
