Any experience with Benzodiazepines?

I’ve been on Ativan .5-1mg daily as needed 7 years. It’s fast acting, I don’t take it often and it works great for panic. I asked my psychiatrist if I could start clonazepam .5 mg bid (total 1 mg daily because I’m hoping it will be a maintenance lasting the entire day (longer half time, Anyway clonazepine sucks (I’ve been on it 2 days). Headache/ less drowsy than Ativan but less effective. Will it get better! Thanks.

I have also taken both at various times. Like you, I find that Ativan works better although it does not last very long.

I've been taking Ativan for a few years, mostly prn but at times was on it regularly. I'm also on Buspar, which I've been taking for several months. I use the Ativan for breakthrough anxiety if I'm having a bad day or sometimes at night to help me relax enough to get to sleep. I can go days without needing one. I was on Buspar by itself decades ago shortly after it came out. I had started seeing a new doctor and she wouldn't prescribe benzos. I had been on Xanax when I first started seeing her and she switched me to the Buspar. Back then the Buspar, after it kicked in, worked well by itself. Now that I'm much older it doesn't always work as well and I need the occasional Ativan. (Hope that all made sense. It's really late and I'm really tired...)

I've been on benzos for years. I did that same switch and did find it very difficult for awhile. I can't say how long as it's been awhile.

The clonopin works fine for me now.

I would say give it a bit longer.
