I've suffered with major depression for 30 years, since I was about 16. I have occasionally had periods of relief in the past with medication, but now medication isn't working and I've tried almost all of them, some of them multiple times, and always in combinations. I've been in therapy most of that time too, and have tried CBT, DBT, Lifespan Integration, among other types. I just tried electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and it didn't help me either, which was really discouraging - I had such high hopes for that treatment, I'd heard such great things. I'm running out of ideas - and hope. If you have any ideas/recommendations for other things to try, I'd love to hear them and would be really grateful!
I live in Washington State, so some options, like pscyllocybin (sp?) treatment, aren't available to me.
Thank you,
Beth

I am very sorry! For many years, I had the same problem, too, but I'm doing better now, thankfully. It may not seem worth it, but it's important to keep trying. The medications that haven't worked in the past could work at another time. Also, I've heard great things about Neurofeedback and about Transcraneal Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Have you tried those two options? Therapy may not provide healing quickly, but it usually helps a lot to cope and to talk about your pain. I would like to encourage you not to give up. Continue to get help and you can ask God for help too! It's very hard to be in your place and I'm sorry and I will pray for you. Wish you big blessings.
I’ve struggled most of my life with depression and anxiety beginning at age 16 , too - i was on Xanax for many years and many antidepressants . In 2023 depression was severe so I had some ECT - helped for a short time but not now - they also took me off Xanax too quickly - now I can’t leave the house - can’t tell if it’s anxiety or something more -physical maybe? - I need the courage to see a doctor in person - I’ve talked to my pcp online and phone and psychiatrist on the phone and online - I’m on lexapro - but taking 20 my every other day might m have been better - now on 15 Mg a day trying to work to 20 Mg. I have hearing and vision issues too. I think I heave tinnitus also .
I’m thinking of you.. with empathy - I’m here if you need to share more.
