Also i want to try Acupuncture as well , i heard it is good for helping anxiety & depression. I just want to get off this Venlafaxine because it is so tempremental, it poops out to often and side effects are a horror even after 3 years. Nothing else seems to work for me.
Low Dose Naltrexone: Hello everyoneMy... - Anxiety and Depre...
Low Dose Naltrexone
Sorry you are having problems with Venlafaxine. I have heard all the horror stories about getting off it. I have been on it for 20 years and will stay on it till I die! I'm too afraid to quit. I also can tell it doesn't work too well sometimes. I also take Buspirone and Mirtazapine which pick up the slack from Venlafaxine. I wish you the best, let us know how the acupuncture works
Hi Ryanlion, I too am on Venlafaxine and have been for many, many years with no problems so guess I am lucky as it has no side effects with me. As for acupuncture for depression this is something that I can not help with as when my G.P sent me to Physio they did use acupuncture on me for chronic pain, the needles were put down my spine, in my head and after 10 mins or so the physio would come back and just tweak these needles, it went on for roughly 40 mins but unfortunately it did nothing for the pain.
If you have found that Venlafaxine does not work have you spoken to your G.P and told them about the side effects as they may be able to give you a try on another depression tablet that might just work for you. I am not aware of acupuncture being good for depression but do ask your G.P if he/she thinks it will help you as tablets do not suit many people, like Rio-heart I will be on Venlafaxine for life because without them the Lord only knows where I would be.
Whatever you decide to do I wish you well and hope that something will eventually help you.
I am so very sorry that I can not tell you if acupuncture will be able to help you, please if you do try it and all is well for you please let us all know as this seems to be a much more natural way of helping people like us with depression.
Take good care of yourself and please do not forget we are all in the same situation and this sounds interesting if it does work out for you.
🙂
Hello. How are you.
I have tried psychotherapy on an off for many years. It felt good to talk to somebody who does not judge you and can redirect you in your thought process. The problem is finding the right therapist who is a good fit for you which is not easy. To be honest, my experience has been limited because I did not comply with all my appointments with frequent cancellations. I would quit after a few months. However, I know people who got connected with the right therapist who love therapy and are doing well. They tell me that it is helping them a lot. You should definitely try it and will hopefully connect with the right therapist. Would love to hear about your journey with therapy.
Take care.
I have been doing the therapy for a year which helpd but i need a little extra to help my mood raise up. Lets hope acupuncture helps i have read it can be as good an antidepressant but its finding a good acupuncturist. I am going to speak to my Dr about Low Dose Naltrexone next week. Wish we luck.
I’m glad therapy helped you. Acupuncture cannot hurt and it releases the good brain neurochemicals. I tried it a few times for Sciatica pain and it helped. I think it’s easier to find an Acupuncturist than a therapist and in NY they have to be licensed by the State. Proud of you for trying different things to feel better.
Take care.
