Some advice for traveling with anxiety and depression

Hi all! I was recently diagnosed with depression back in January of this year and dealt with anxiety since middle school. I’ve been afraid of spending too much time with myself just because that’s when I tend to overthink and let my negative intrusive thoughts about death and self harm win. I’ve never self harmed but having those thoughts scare me. I’m traveling for work to a different state for a week and I’m nervous just because I will be in a hotel alone and I’m used to living with my family. I know it’s only a week and during the days it will be filled with work I’m just nervous about the nights. I’m on anti depressants and I am seeing a therapist but still struggle with depression. Especially with the news about airplanes recently I’m afraid i will start panicking since it’s my first time flying alone. Any words of advice or stuff you all find helpful with traveling by yourself? I am making sure to download comfort movies right now! Thanks in advance :)

if U can download music U enjoy that makes U feel good that might be nice. I enjoy crossword puzzles. So U can find ones that U feel comfortable doing. Also please check to see if your cell phone has a journal app. I use it to record my thoughts at work. But U can program positive affirmations as journal entries.

I haven't traveled in a while, but this is the stuff that you want to do, pack your "mind distractors" with you. :)

.

So bring your movies.

Bring your books.

Bring you music.

Bring things like crossword puzzles.

ETC

.

Sometimes an obvious oversight, but make sure you bring your battery chargers.

Bring your meds.

Bring any comforting snack foods.

.

A lot of that may see like doing too much, but the more that you bring the more fun options that you have. :)
