In a mucking fuddle-brain fog & all that jazz

After being diagnosed with ADHD last year it explains why some things i find nigh impossible to do, it creates a mental block, whilst other things are often easier than the majority can manage, the key to managing this annoying condition is not to beat oneself up about it. Sit me in front of a desktop computer and i can manage all my business/private correspondence extremely well, no trouble at all, but with a mobile phone I am foxed😫, hence why i only use a mobile for what it was first made for. The complexities of life never fails to intrigue me🤔

This has affected my life terribly, especially when I see friends and acquaintances paying for everything with their phones and accessing their Bank accounts and everything of importance on their phones, but to be honest i have no wish for all my personal commitments to be viewed on my phone, i cope very well with that on my desktop PC, but even so I feel totally useless at times.😭

The mobile phone is just so darn useful - I use it for practically everything. Do you have someone that could teach you? I think you really might like the convenience🙂

Yes I've had help several times but ADHD has prevented me absorbing the information.

Hi secrets I know what you mean about mobiles however I've found helpfulbooks.co.uk. Not trying to sell you anything! They're really good, have guides to phones, facebook etc for beginners.

It's easy to beat yourself up when you can't get a grip, taps into child like feelings of confusion and helplessness.

There's no reason to feel this way now.....these guides have given me confidence.

I also sign up for emails which translate the jargon and make it easy to understand.

With your brain and capabilities you'll get there.....see it as winter project, an indoor training session especially as we're due a whole load of rain right now!! All the best secrets.

I remember the old days when you paid bills at the bank or by cheque!

How are you and Prince Pixie getting on?

Today it has been lunchtime learning, job hunting and swimming here which I have enjoyed and found extremely rewarding although I was put out that there's no swimming tomorrow as you get used to going there at a certain day and time and when it's not there it can get you upset!

in reply to Turnipgirl

I have ADHD along with the muckle-fudding brain fog and I know that I would be better off if I didn't have a mobile phone because I find myself unable to be mindful in my use. Sometimes things we think of as shortcomings are actually blessings! I enjoy the author Sebastian Junger, and although he has a flip phone, he has never had a smart phone.

Hello I sometimes it's a curse as it's too easy to spend too long on it, I found when I didn't have internet on it and even been joined on here I get more done in the outside world, it's too easy to be lazy and sit typing on here, we should all spend more time in nature and with face to face interaction don't you think 🤗

in reply to Sunrisetabby

I guess ADHD is why you both can't spell swear words properly lol (only joking )🤩

Hello Secrets22. I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to using my cell phone. After owning the darn thing for years you'd think I'd be able to master it by now. But that's a joke. I see kids do amazing things with their cell phones. I use an android cell phone. I guess Apple cell phones are the phone of choice nowadays. My wife has an Apple phone and she buzzes through it like clockwork. She tells me that if I had an Apple phone it would make life easier for me. I tried her phone and it's worse than mine. I've gone online to get the tutorial app for my phone and that even confuses me more. One of the worst things I do with my phone is I touch buttons that I should leave alone and it changes my phone to do things I can't undo. Please tell me how a child can master this and I can't even understand it. If you find the answer feel free to tell me. FYI I was on Klonopin for years and my doctor told me that I was in a benzo fog for years and it affected parts of my brain associated with understanding details. I've been on medication for bipolar, anxiety, depression and OCD. I'm sure this hasn't helped me much at all. Ah medication it's helps in one way but screws you up in many other ways. So I guess you have to pick your poison as they say. Well it's nice talking with you again and you take care of yourself please. All the best to you.

The old days were better when you paid everything by cheque or physically went to the bank to pay your bills!

I was upset when they shut down the nat west branch in Roath back in July last year as at that branch they couldn't do enough for you!

Up here in the East, there used to be bank branches on the Newport Road in Rumney but they have all shut down and one has become a fried chicken joint!

What I have noticed here up east is that a fair few of the shops are cash only so when I come to the local shops I just assume its cash only then no one gets embarrassed!

How are you and the dogs getting on?

At a previous job a colleagues extremely spoilt Jack Russell buster had to have 8 teeth out at the vets as they were rotten from having too many treats!

Here, I'm going to put it like this.

When it comes to money and paying for things with money, I am a big fan of only paying for things (payment systems) that you are comfortable with using.

.

In a lot of ways with technology, I am like you. I much rather use a PC or laptop.

For some people, they like using their phones, but (at this point of my life) I am still not comfortable with paying for things with my phone.

Thankyou, and glad that you also are not comfortable with paying with your phone, i will continue with my PC as i'm used to it.🤪

Turnipgirl profile image

Most of the time I use cash to pay for things!

AnxiousSilver profile image
AnxiousSilver in reply to Turnipgirl

For the most part I'm the same.

I don't mind if others use their phone, just as long as there's an option for cash or credit card. (preferably both)
