Is there any way of getting rid of BRAIN FOG? I have been taking medication all my life, side effects of this & that over the decades!

I am 66 years of age, I suppose it is dementia, but I'm a fighter, a survivor, feel like being put in a coma and letting the pill gunge drain away? Would just plain exercise help? All the effects of decades of pills and medication left in my system all my life, just thinking of some of them, naturally some pretty dangerous mixtures, as have never been a healthy bunny? A sponge in my brain [rhetorical]

Hi Adlon, Brain fog? I wish I had an answer. Me too. Even the bunny suit fits. I'd like to keep an eye on your post and see if anyone's gone through this and come out the other side.

I've had to resort to stupid memory prompts to get by. It's not enough. Watching my mind go away bit by bit is a nightmare. I have better and worse days, but overall it's downhill.

Have you been diagnosed with dementia? One if the pills I take gas me a little brain fog, my Doc suggested switching it to before bedtime and it works great for me. Have you tried changing the time you take your meds?

I was diagnosed with dementia in 2017, but was taking Fycompa for my epilepsy at the time, so that could well be inaccurate? I have been thinking about that, evening and night measures, especially high blood pressure pills, lisinopril, taking my morning dose then a 'quick nap', that 'quick nap' I ALWAYS sleep much deeper?

So your brain fog could be any number of things. I would see your Doc about it and see if the fog can be narrowed down to your meds. If it is your med causing the fog then take them at night.

I wish a decent doctor, would ask me these questions, go a bit deeper than they usually do, scratch on my surface, it would take too much trouble🙄 in these troubled times, I'm always in some queue somewhere, a lot of them probably, I am what they call a "one off", I have seen too many doctors over my time, have too many 'unknown factors'🥴 but I will alter that lisinopril [High blood pressure pill] worth a try anyway Oshunlvr👍

Dementia and brain fog are very different. I have brain fog from medication, stress, dehydration, tinnitus, and chronic pain.

I find with such a mixture of medication I'm taking now, and my age, I'm living in a perpetual blur a combination of both.

Secondly….For me, too many things can cause brain fog. Pinpointing the exact reason for it is like finding info on google. Mild exercise has helped sometimes and it does help what ails you if you’re able. Sometimes hydration helps. And sometimes riding it out is all i can do. It’s a great excuse for forgetting something you should remember. There’s always an upside to things. Never let a bad situation go wasted. (I’m sure that’s not the exact quote, but I’ve got early morning brain fog)😁

I agree exercise does seem an important cause, stuck inside essentially since before pandemic period isolated me in 2020, but with my various 'excuses' I've had during this period riding it out is all I can do! 🥴back to my brain fog🙄

There are other things that can contribute to brain fog. One is aspartame which is found in diet beverages and other products as an artificial sweetener. Exercise will help too, to an extent.

I have been altering my diabetes 2 diet, too much sugar so I was told, I am living on almost entire natural products plenty of fruit and veg, 7 foot fridge/freezer helps, for myself alone, but my weight has been dropping, getting near my target weight of 14stone🤞
