hi everyone

Hope you are having a manageable day, joined a while ago but not posted before, do any of you suffer more with anxiety and depression when your sleep patterns are worse? I am finding this and trying to work on sleep hygiene while waiting to see if my referral to a specialist will be accepted.

Best wishes

Welcome. I definitely have sleep issues from my anxiety and depression. The only thing that really worked well was Ambien for sleep but the doctor won't give it to me anymore. She said to take a Xanax for sleep. I am wondering if that's why I wake up with anxiety every morning now. I fired my psychiatrist last week and am waiting to get a new one. I will ask about going back on Ambien for sleep. If I don't take Xanax, I stay awake all night long. My brain doesn't shut off. But on the other hand, during the holidays, I was so depressed that all I did was sleep day and night for like a week. Depression and anxiety just sucks.

I am sorry you are not getting the treatment you felt was helping, I hope your new specialist helps you and listens to you when they meet you. I suffer with chronic pain and when up with it all night then I am so mentally unwell then next day, definitely sucks for sure!

Hi it sounds like you have worked hard to find a solution and night time routine to help you, tramadol give me restless legs, hope you don’t suffer that way and don’t get too many broken nights, I am up every two hours on average unfortunately.

I always have a long warm bath ,infused with lavender essential oils , and use lavender on my pillow. I dont want to go down the medication route if I can avoid it .Some nights are easier than others.

MadBunny, could you recommend a pleasant smelling Lavender essential oil?

I picked up a bottle on the drugstore once and had to dump it, so offensive.

Maybe there is a brand name I could use?? Thanks :) xx

I use Tisserand . I also use their pillow spray and lavender infused bath oil.Im in the UK so not sure if you can get it in the US or on Amazon. I buy mine from a store which sells health products.

Thank you dear..There's no way I could have handled the scent on my pillow

with what I bought lol I sprayed it in the garbage bins.

I will try to track down the brand you use. Thanks again :) xx

You're welcome. Yes there are some awful ones out there . Someone once gave me a lavender scented candle and it was 😝.

There's also a brand called Neals Yard - a UK brand though.

Love Neals yard products, so nice but pricey but excellent quality and smell real just like lavender plants!

I agree re medication, I try the natural route but recently been given an antihistamine for when I have had several days of no sleep, it really helps just getting that one night a week now!

Oh I miss long warm baths, I only have a shower in my current home, I love your product recommendations, such beautiful and soothing scents, have a lovely day! It’s miserable here in Devon at the moment, hope it’s better with you!

Windy and cold here in the London area. area. I'm going to keep the bath while I can still get in it 😊

I love lavender. There is a lavender farm a short drive from where I live and it's always a summer treat to visit, walking in the fields is so soothing. And a bonus- you can pick it , for a small price

Have a lovely day yourself.

Aww long may you continue to enjoy hot baths, my mum used to grow lavender and would tie a bundle under the hot tap to sent the bath. What a wonderful treat to live near a lavender farm! Thank you!

Hi Sorchap78, it's inevitable that sleep deprivation can cause many issues

to surface. That sleep period is our time for restoration and relaxation. I just

read the other day that doctors are saying that even quiet resting can help a

little. Of course, not doing as much as a good night's REM sleep can. Wishing

you better nights and happier days :) xx

Hi Agora1, I agree completely that it’s no way our bodies can copy without our vital sleep and recovery time, it’s so poor how our bodies even try, must be a fight or flight type of reaction? I could be wrong though re sleep but that’s how my body feels! Like it’s trying to flee danger when I can’t sleep!

I agree re quiet resting, plus it keeps you in the patterns of trying to rest so you don’t turn completely nocturnal on yourself!

Hope you don’t suffer too much and find some nice scents to sooth you! Best wishes for tonight!!
