How has your January been?

January 2024 is coming to an end.

How was your first month of the new year?

(I’ve been doing great with online school and focusing on a more relaxed schedule. My fiancé and I have been doing pretty good and I’m happy at the moment)🏁

Happy to hear about a positive January that your having. mine has been up and down I have worries about money as a job I was doing has ended and a trip to Scotland last weekend turned into a nightmare after getting caught in a major storm that hit the UK. Issues with my doctors and treatment has heightened my anxiety.Sorry to be abit doom and gloom it is what it is today but tomorrow is anew 🙏🙏

Oh you live in Scotland? We went to aviemore. It was absolutely beautiful. We did sledging abit up the mountain. I can't remember the name but apparently its the 4th highest in the UK We drove up and there was a train to take you further up but it was down for maintenance lol. Just my luck.Where are you? If that's OK to ask?

There were loads of skiers and snowboarders at that halfway point we drove too. If I was a skier I'd definitely go there .We had children with us and were just looking to sledge and take in the views . Have you been ok with storm aisha? We left just as it hit but not fast enough. Made it to Cumbria, Carlisle and had to bunk down in a power cut Travelodge. The kids thought it was ace lol I was just glad to be out of danger.

Anything I know about Glasgow I probably learned in the Trainspotting Movie from the 90s so I'll not comment lol. I'm sure it's an amazing place. That was my first and only visit to Scotland

true story up skiing had my rucksack on my back started trying to be flash went over a snowy mound started doing a summersault landed on my neck luckily was ok albeit a bit sore with wounded pride more than anything else more gutted my sausage rolls fell out mid air wondering if you came across them on your sledge.

Ellamaye profile image
Ellamaye in reply tokenster1

Didn't find your sausage rolls 🤣. But sounds like you had a lucky escape from a serious accident. I can just about muster the courage to let myself sled down I can't imagine having the guts to try skiing stunts.

Incase your imagining us sledging down an actual mountain it was more of a steep hill alot lower down lol.

think I should have stuck to a hill rather than up the top of the mountain loved it though yeah had change of clothes and stuff in my rucksack that broke the fall a bit. the storm was bad in parts but not as bad as it could have been.

Great question:)

I'm glad you are doing well so far this year. I'm glad you are happy.

January has been interesting for me. Some life lessons surfaced that I wasn't expecting but it's all good. Everything happens for a reason.

We will soon be flipping the calendar. I can't believe how fast time goes

I don't want to ask what it is . No point in saying it outloud if you don't need to . 9 years is a long remission from anything so probability is on your side x no need to worry for nothing , you'll know in good time x keeping you in my thoughts x

Hi Curry223

Nice to hear you are having a good and happy January!!

Mine has been abit up and down, I’m def looking forward to flipping the page to a new month!! It’s my bday month and as I don’t always look forward to my bday this year I picked something I wanted to do and spend it with first time in 8 years I’m not sticking by where I live!! I had some expectations that didn’t happen that kinda crushed me so that also helped me make a decision to get away for a couples days and spend that time somewhere far away!! Yes looking forward to a new month and letting go of all my expectations now!!

My January has been rewarding but challenging as we have been doing a pantry challenge all month which involves only eating items we have on hand at home and have discovered some new recipes and the coffers are full again as we only bought food like bread and milk.

Yesterday's dinner was sweet potato and chickpea curry which was enjoyable and there's some leftover for another day.

Today's breakfast is spaghetti hoops with toast and dinner will be sweet potato soup.

Wot! No turnips!☹️

Not for this week as I feel it is of benefit to try out different things and the sweet potato soup tonight was very filling!

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie in reply toTurnipgirl

Just joking! Turnips would out-flavour the soup. Good that it was filling.

Things like sweet potatoes pack a right nutritional punch don't they and are extremely good for you as well and are nice and affordable aren't they?

There's some that's leftover that can get used another day and reheated for another dinner and some leftover sweet potato and chickpea curry from last night's dinner!

Yesterday evening I got off the bus from swimming and was walking home and it was extremely windy and it blew my hat off my head and thankfully I managed to retrieve it!

Last night none of us could sleep due to the noisy wind outside!

I did have some mashed swede Sunday just gone at the Sunday carvery at the local pub which is great value for money!

I always keep a sweet potato in the fridge for when I make a curry, and it goes a long way. I will fry onions, chickpeas, quorn pieces, whatever I have to use up, the potatoes cook very quickly and I can add then to the mix, then add curry sauce. I find it very satisfying.

I went out this morning t o look for our plastic milk bottle holder. Went down the road and back, only to find it wedged under the front of my car. It was warm but windy. I hardly ever wear a hat, though I should - if I ever leave the house😆

Can't believe the month is nearly ending!

I wouldn't say I'm doing too bad, but I'm also not doing too good either. Been in a slump since the last day of comprehensive exams (Jan. 10) but I'm becoming a bit more hopeful after restarting a mood stabilizer

Still planning on what to do and how to go about it. Hopefully everything will work out fine. Happy to hear you are doing alright.

Hey HoneyBee, do you have to keep changing your name?

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie

You can't hide! Do you know that? Hope you are having a peaceful life. I am so far, but in a lot of pain. The conservatory has flooded due to my SO having a deep bath and the septic tank couldn't cope. Used to it now, and it's dark so can't do anything, especially with the pain.

MaggieSylvie

You didn't!

MaggieSylvie profile image

I thought you were doing well. Now you say you have not one, but a couple of health issues. I hope they can easily be dealt with.

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie

No, I didn't see anything like that. Then I got one pm and tried to open it and it wouldn't open.

MaggieSylvie profile image
MaggieSylvie

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear that. At least if your GP could take a look, you could catch it, if that's what it is. Sounds like a mole. I've had loads of BCCs and I've got a lot of other things that are not needing the knife. I know nothing about ulcerative colitis but it sounds painful and serious.

On one of the other boards I had said to one of the other posters how their family wasn't the same since one of her cats died last year and she had asked is this Catgirl as she had guessed it was me and I said yes it was!

Today has been a nice productive day here cooking sweet potato soup which we had for dinner as planned and its lovely and filling as well and packs a real nutritional punch as well as being nice and affordable!

Baby sends her best to Pixie!

It seems the colon is trying to look after itself; at least you found the main culprit and got nine years without it.

Since I moved up here back in May last year I feel it's no happy accident that my ibs symptoms have gone into remission as the source of the problem went when I moved!
