Endocrinology and Hormones

I've had issues with hormones and aging and years ago went to see an old Endocrinologist. Unfortunately he's retired now and our area only has a couple of the Endocrinologists left but I wanted to say how much seeing one helped me understand hormones, supplements, and depression and how very helpful it was for me.

Our bodies being made up of chemicals and our thyroids producing them correctly and what we eat and drink and sleep habits ... Oh my

My first major bout with depression was so difficult and I was so done and I didn't know where to turn. But after seeing the Endocrinologist and getting on testosterone replacement therapy and adding the needed supplements to my diet It changed my life.

I still have some whopper depressive episodes and always will, but I just wanted to mention Endocrinology since I've seen a lot of questions regarding meds and supplements.

Glad to be here and hope everyone has a wonderful day :)

Thanks for that thought. I noticed that you are male. I was wondering if testosterone works for women, also.

Hello for women you need a combination of progesterone and testosterone unless you have had your womb and ovaries removed as taking both keeps it balanced and more protected from cancer from taking HRT you won't need both if no womb as won't need the protection, you can't take hormone replacement therapy if have history of cancer, its been wonder drug for me really helped balance me out on loosing hormones i was struggling I used to suffer bad PMT premenstrual tension before menapause and still a bit during it even with no period, but the HRT got rid of that not just my hot flushes but other symptoms read up on menapause and HRT it also helps you stay young over all and helps keeps collagen there I've still aged but not as much as some others my age I have seen I'm on low dose patches 😊just notice your post on sleep chamomile tea 2 bags in mug before bed also good for anxiety drink regular through the day one tea bag in mug by day I pref 2 bags before bed

I have been on low dose HRT for a few years after menopause. I use compounded estrogen and progesterone pills. One of my coworkers told me I should ask my doctor about using some testosterone also. The HRT has reduced some of the symptoms I had after menopause, and I think it has improved my overall sense of well being. I have no idea if HRT has helped me stay and look younger, because I have nothing to compare it to. I have been told I look younger than my age, but I have attributed that to regular exercise since I was in my teens.
