Emotional Dysregulation

I was recently referred to a 1 year program to learn how to deal with my Emotional Dysregulation. Has anyone had any experience with DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)? Any thoughts regarding DBT? I feel emotions way to deeply and it is very difficult to understand my emotions at times while they scream from zero to 60 in a few seconds. I also don't have a calming mechanism when emotions get to be too much. This of course leads to depression.

Looking forward to the program :)

Welcome to the community

I've heard of this therapy but I've never done it.

It will be interesting to hear what you are learning.

Some of us are emotionally sensitive which I don't think is a bad thing, it's just finding the proper balance

Best of luck

Hello 62 black birds yes like dolphin said some are emotionally sensitive it's part of been very empathetic we feel stronger than others so it's easy to feel tearful at things Im not aware of the condition you say or treatment, sounds interesting I know I can be feeling happy about something having laugh then if I see some sad thing on TV even esp regarding animals I can suddenly feel tears on way,and visa versa, I guess this is kinda what you mean,I looked up treatment for been empath over sensitive but there isn't any other than realising I'm over sensitive and this helps put things in perspective like a harsh comment off someone good luck with treatment keep us informed 👍😊

Actually my nurse practitioner just recommended that I check out DBT. She said that is the one program she has seen consistent results for in improving people's lives. And recently, DBT got a seriously impressive endorsement from one of the major ADHD researchers out there, Russell Ramsay, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

I am definitely going to check it out.
