New here :)
Welcome! This group is so understanding and "gets it" about anxiety and depression. I hope you find peace & comfort here. Nice to have you.
Hello and Welcome. You have come to the right place to talk to people about anxiety and depression.
Awesome! What are some things you do to overcome anxiety and depression? I haven't been clinically diagnosed but I just signed up for better help and my first session is tomorrow.
I am in therapy and on medications. I have had some success with approaches that are not covered by insurance. They are expensive, but I would be happy to share if you are interested. There are plenty of things to try that are covered by insurance first though. Being active on this site has helped me so much. I have been here since July and I have made a lot of progress since then. It really makes a huge difference to talk to people who understand. That is great that you have an appointment tomorrow.
Yes I enjoyed my better help session!!! I am trying cognitive behavioral therapy first, and then seeing a primary care physician and letting them know whats going on. Also, looking for more in depth treatment if needed. Yes please share I appreciate your time!
I am glad you enjoyed your session. I was thinking about it after my last reply. My experience is with treatment resistant depression. You are not treatment resistant. You are just beginning treatment. You really do not need to worry about other treatments right now. You are doing the right thing by starting therapy and talking to your doctor about medication. You are on this site early on in your journey. That is a positive. You may respond very well to therapy and medication alone. I will recommend 2 books to you in case you are interested in reading more about anxiety and depression. Hope and Help for Your Nerves by Dr Claire Weekes and Feeling Great by David Burns.
Hello! I'm not familiar with the work of David Burns but wholeheartedly recommend any publication that advocates acceptance as the way to recover.
I bought Dr Weekes' book called Essential Help for your Nerves [UK title] and is the complete A to Z. It explains all you need to know about your suffering, the chronological order in which it manifests [and why], the myriad of symptoms, including intrusive thoughts, depression [she called it depletion which is a more accurate description]. More importantly, she slso explains how to recover naturally by adopting 4 principles so that they become second nature. This book and her teachings changed my life and I'm not bullshitting!
In a nutshell, recovery will happen when you become friends with all the negative emotions generated by anxiety and accept them unconditionally, thus giving up the continuous struggle with the symptoms and the reason people continue to suffer.
I've posted alot of information about acceptance and my recovery [without medication...tough but not impossible] on this forum which you might find helpful and happy to help further if needed.
Recovery lies within and is waiting to happen.
Best wishes ❤️
Welcome! I hope you find the support you need here.

Tired of feeling sad and depressed all the time.
Thanks! You're too kind.
You are and a great addition to HU.
Oh dear. I hope it isn't painful Lol
Ha ha. You could be that character in Star Trek Deep Space Nine. The head of security Odo who is a shapeshifter. He has to be a puddle of goo every 16 hours.
Or remember that film The Blob ?
With a very young Steve McQueen in? Yep.
Thats the one .
Omg I love that name! Im glad you have fond memories you can look back on! Losing a pet is never easy. I lost my chihuahua honey before she was the sweetest dog, was like losing a family member.
Yes It was me wanting to explain my entire life in 45 minutes. She was a great listener, I am going to see her once a week. Im glad you found a therapist, and have a great relationship with them.
I will see what the doctors recommend for me as far as medication. Thank you for responding!
