today I’m struggling a little with my anxiety. Yesterday I posted about hugging a student who ended up throwing up just a few minutes later. It’s been about 30 hours since I last had contact with him. I haven’t thrown up, but I’m still scared I’ll get whatever he had. Right now I have a bad headache and a stuffy nose which is also just contributing to my anxiety.

Do you know why the person threw up?
I don’t know about your symptoms, but I think you are doing a good job at being a bit mindful on what is happening in your body and otherwise looking for comfort and distraction from what could be. I occasionally get a headache and stuffy nose just from feeling very stressed. Maybe there is something healthy around like ginger or lemon to make hot ginger tea with lemon and honey. Or something else to boost your immune system that you can focus on preparing and to support your body in healing.
I struggled with anxiety about getting Covid for years and then I started worrying about getting any kind of illness. I got Covid about a year ago, and it wasn't fun, but I survived. My husband told me that sickness is a part of life and always has been. I look back on my life and I've been sick countless times, and I have always survived. I have worked on not worrying about it and ruining the rest of my life. It takes time and hard work, but you can get to that point. CBT can help.
