Very stressful time

I haven't been on for a couple of weeks but felt I needed to "unload". As I mentioned several weeks ago, the building I've worked in for over 25 years has been sold and they still don't know where they're going to relocate us too. Work from home, work from another office? They aren't sure and we have been packing things up to vacate by mid September.

Add to that that my husband and I are in the process of rebuilding our deck (16 x 40) as the boards are dry rotted and breaking and it's not safe to walk on (due to poor construction by previous owner). We both work full time, then have been coming home and putting in a couple hours on the deck, plus most of the day on the weekends. It's hard and it's been hot as we're having to pull the old boards sections at a time, then paint the new boards and screw them down.

We're trying to get it done by the 3rd week of August as we've have young grandkids we watch sometimes on Saturday or Sunday. We live in the Pacific Northwest so we have until roughly mid September to be assured of no rain so we can get the deck finished AND we're going to be out of town the last week of September.

Add all this up and needless to say, my anxiety level has been way up. Palpitations, tingling, shortness of breath/hyperventilating, etc. Between moving things at work and the deck, I'm getting lots of exercise and sleeping good so why is the anxiety so high????

I'm sorry your having to move after being in one place so long.....and was wondering if your were paying for the deck repair?....if the foundation is secure , crossbeam supports and all, for economic savings could you just cover the decking area with 3/4 inch plywood to have a solid safe surface for your family visit...

We are doing the deck ourselves. Thankfully the support beams are all in good condition. We’re almost 1/2 way done with the deck, then we’ll replace the rail which is much easier.

You will get it done and it will be nicer once done. Anxiety comes when we feel overwhelmed., Practicing extra self-care and self-compassion can help but I know it's hard to do when you have anxiety and depression. Try to pamper yourself a little and tell yourself you'll get through this hard time. And better days are ahead.

Hi Grandma. Sorry you’re getting the physical anxiety symptoms. It’s cause you have a lot on your mind and physically you’re doing a lot of labor. Often times once we sit to relax the physical symptoms rear their ugly head cause the body is trying to calm down and rest and everything because super noisy and we’re aware of it. I feel with you, I go through the same when doing A LOT. Just take a deep breath and breathe on some positive remember to slow down and take breaks while working doing breathing sets too proactively. Big hugs to you. Deck project sounds wonderful.
