Depression and Anxiety

Hello

I just joined. I suffer from Depression and Anxiety. I am looking to connect with people who understand. It is hard being so different from everyone else because of my limitations due to fear. I am on medication and in therapy. I am getting LENS Neurofeedback right now. I have had 5 treatments and I have not had any positive results yet. Has anyone else done LENS? I would like to hear a success story.

Please don't be afraid to ask for help. Do you have a Doctor that you can talk to?

I don’t currently have a doctor. I’m also really afraid of my mom finding out and anyone I talk to will tell my mom most likely. Is talking to a doctor how it worked for you?

My Doctor referred me to Psychiatrist. My Psychiatrist prescribes my meds. A Doctor should not tell your mom. Read Tealpillow's post below.

I take it you can't talk to your mother about it? If yes, why?

If you can, check out Doctor On Demand or another online resource that can connect you to a psychiatrist. I do virtual visits and they are excellent - very quick and good care in my opinion. You can even get same day appointments which is unheard of in physical offices. Having a professional on your side is well worth the fear 🫂

Are these virtual visits chat based or like over zoom?

They are over Zoom 👍🏼

There are apps that offer therapy via chat - I think BetterHealth is one of them. One good thig to come from the pandemic is the emergence of virtual healthcare!

I have not done LENS, but it sounds interesting so will be curious if others have tried it. Welcome to the group here. Was your LENS treatment covered by your insurance or did you pay out of pocket?

Hello. LENS is not covered by insurance. I have to pay out of pocket. Thank you for welcoming me. I really do hope to hear from someone else who has done LENS. I am reading through other posts right now. It sounds like there is a lot of support here. I am glad I joined. I look forward to getting to know people. Thanks again.
