Feel like such a loser
The people in this list are all "losers" by your definition.
I'm not convinced there is a connection between great talent and suffering, but this list has some artists you may recognize, all of whom struggled in their own way:
Edgar Allen Poe
Charlotte Brontë
William Styron
Hieronymus Bosch
Shirley Jackson
Dylan Thomas
Emily Dickinson
Kurt Vonnegut
Philip K. Dick
Pablo Picasso
The world is a better place for what they left us.
Many couldn't "play nice" with others.
Society couldn't and didn't provide what was needed to ease their pain.
beautiful people
Flawed, hurt, beautiful, human. So are we all.
These folks just add something more. I don't have the words to explain it. But I'm glad I can feel it.
I know the feeling.
But there is some good news. We get to choose whether to give air time to positive thoughts or negative thoughts.
You can choose positive. Maybe you won’t feel better right this moment, but when you wake next day, you can choose to be more positive than the day before.
This will pass and tomorrow will be better. You can make it better.
Sorry you feel like that Nothingnoted
I didn't remember we were so many with similar difficulties. But the last 3 or 4 posts on the list mostly share the same sad experiences and feelings. You have all my support and understanding.
Renizzle2023 : I'm afraid I have to disagree that we can choose positive thoughts over negative ones. First, and you could argue it is a cognitive bias, in moments of deep depression, we can't remember any positive experiences. It seems like all was always sad and hopeless, and, the same causes producing the same effects, there is no reason for things to change in the future.
Second, whatever our conscious efforts, there is always that part of our mind beyond our control that repeats you are a loser, you missed all the good opportunities, you made all the wrong choices, and overall you wasted your entire life.
Probably some people are strong enough to ignore that voice. It is not my case. And in its turn, it reinforces the idea I am too weak for the world we live in.
This is absolutely beautiful. And you said what I have been thinking about myself lately:
". . . in moments of deep depression, we can't remember any positive experiences. It seems like all was always sad and hopeless, and, the same causes producing the same effects, there is no reason for things to change in the future."
Thank you.🌹
You recognizing that about yourself tells me that there is a positive person inside. Encourage that person, gently, to come out at times. Little efforts toward positivity here and there, even just a bit of silliness, may help turn the tide.🌈
My friend
You are far from a loser. Remove that from your vocabulary You have a kind, warm heart and you give off a genuine down to earth vibe
There will always be people around us that try to damage this part of us. When we are treated badly the negative words spin around in our head. Ptsd trauma can cause us to believe we are not good enough
Leave the " nay sayers " behind. They are not good enough for you.
❤️🐬
While you can think you are a loser and say it to yourself, there is absolutely no chance you are one. Zero.
Flawed thinking paints inaccurate pictures. I am a victim of this at times and it is a frequent battle. I am better than I used to be.
Again, zero chance 🙏🏾
Thank you☺
Gah! Apologies! I meant recognizing your negativity... not the "loser" part! My bad!🤦♀️
Of course you are not a loser.
None of us are. We are here, seeking help, and fighting.
