Disconnected, Dissociated & In Discomfort 😞

My hip problem has reared it's ugly head in the last 2 weeks and I'm thrust back into chronic fatigue and pain from the nerve damage and degenerative disc disorder that plagues the quality of my life 24/7/365.

The pain from the tear in the labrum of my left hip, kinda like a torn meniscus in the knee, was alleviated when I had a steroid shot last September. Until mid April I remained pain free and I was hopeful that physical therapy was enough to shelf this issue for longer than 6-7 months.

Unfortunately, that's not the case and my insurance doesn't reinstate until July 1. I had to leave work yesterday after 2.5 hours. My sleep has been suffering and I'm struggling again to keep my head above water.

I just wanna go to bed until the β›ˆοΈ ⚑ storm blows over...unfortunately there's not enough mushroomsπŸ„to take this edge off. I'm not mentally prepared for another surgery and being unable to walk AGAIN!!!πŸ˜πŸ€¬πŸ€•β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

I feel for you! After giving birth twice, I had many problems with my hip that I didn't have previously, so I had hip replacement surgery in 2016 and have felt great ever since. Unlike knee surgery, it is a relatively easy surgery to recover from. Can you get on the Obama health care plan to complete this sooner than July?

It's been a rough week and I'm feeling the effects. I hate being down in the dumps. I have an appointment with the hip specialist the first week in July. Just gotta get there.

Being super careful and trying not to get too hard on myself when I can't do everything I want to, ya know?πŸ€•πŸ₯΄πŸ˜€πŸ™„

So, it sounds like part of your problem was getting to see the doctor right now. Yes, take care of yourself and stay off your feet. Can they give you some meds to sleep through the night?

My husband will have knee surgery at the end of May, but he had to wait since February when he tore his cartilage playing tennis. It had nothing to do with having insurance; the trouble was scheduling the appointments.

Yes I know the scheduling dilemma. I had my gallbladder removed during the pandemic and getting hospital availability was a lengthy wait. Plus covid testing and extra restrictions made the experience even more anxiety riddled. It can't be any better now with extreme burnout and backed up procedures. Lots of pressure on the medical system as the boomers slowly overwhelm the available services. There isn't nearly enough retirement homes, nursing homes and assisted living homes necessary to accommodate the tsunami of patients coming in the next decade.

So MANY social issues needing immediate attention and no one cares. It scares me what's happening in our society.

I can't stay off my feet. I stand for a living. I'm a table games dealer for 29 years, primarily roulette these days. It's slowly grinding me to dust with multiple spine & shoulder surgeries...7 from Oct,'16-april'22. And more on the horizon, just a question of when and what.

WOW, that's a long time to deal roulette! Yes, I see what you mean about standing on your feet. I am sure you have tried everything, including different kinds of shoes. My husband uses hard arches from the "Good Feet" store, which seems to help him.

I would get another shot in that hip; although it may only last a few months this time, that would be enough to carry you over until July. Warm showers and lots of ice helped me during those days, as did a walking cane. I hope you feel better!

Yeah I'm going to call the office Mon and see how much it costs out of pocket for a second steroid shot. She did it right in the office last time... how much could it be, right?

Call first on the shot before getting it. I assume it would be cheaper, but with shots, who knows? Again, maybe if you went onto Obama Health Care, that would cover the shot until you are back on your insurance in July. "Designguy"s information below on PRP is good, and I am also looking into that for my lower back. I have had cortisone shots, and they don't last very long.

Sorry to hear life is kind of sucking for you right now, I don't envy you a bit. Have you ever looked into PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections? I've read good things about them for joint pain issues and I have an appointment with an orthopedic doctor about it for my knee but he's busy and I can't get in until July. I had a cortizone shot in my knee this spring but it only lasted about a month so looking for options. Hope you're doing a little better now.

No... have not heard of PRP injections. I will read up on it. My spine problems and nerve damage really take me down hard... chronic pain is a monster suck hole of energy and willpower. I HATE living in this hell-ish realm of minute to minute calculation of what I can and can't do based on uncontrollable pain and lack of sleep. It's pure survival mode.

Good luck getting your shot on Monday, hope it helps you.

I didn't know the extent of your medical woes, Pitts.πŸ˜”Goodness. I just can't imagine.

Sending you love and light.

3 spine surgeries in '16 & '17. Both shoulders rotator cuffs repaired '18 & '19 and gallbladder removed '21. My neck surgery '22 was only 8 months after my gallbladder and I couldn't work enough hours to keep my medical insurance at the beginning of '23. It will be reinstated July 1st. But I'm without coverage until then. I have a tear in my hip on the left where all my nerve damage is. Trying desperately to avoid surgery but the steroid shot that has given me relief since September has worn off.

We'll see what happens after I talk to the specialist on Monday.

I am so sorry for the pain you have suffered those 6 years! It is hard to recover when they come at you so fast like that!
