hi some of my family are going into the town centre slecial events going on but im having a quite day i dont like all the crowds to be honest and noise germs,i still recovering from what may have been some covid strain bad cough 3 wks took it out me not much sleep be having a quite day by myself have a lovely weekend full moon tonight ill be viewing out for that hope you see it v uplifting🤗🌟🌝

I’m from the US and I’ll be watching it on the news. It’ll be headliner on every channel and I’d like to see the historical garb that King Charles will be wearing.
I’ll be watching too. But it’s also going to be Kentucky Derby Day. So I have to tune in to that as well. 🐴
Wow…ok….I’ll have to watch the video in honor for the day Secretariat won by 31 lengths. Saturday will be busy.

I can’t remember off the top of my head…maybe a little earlier? It’s easy to find out. I watched the original footage of the race on YouTube and the quality of the film wasn’t great. The movie was awesome. I think the owners knew about the special capabilities Secretariat had. How could they not? They saved his best til last.

Yes, I remember him winning the Triple Crown. He was a very unusual animal!
His heart was nearly three times the size of a normal horses heart. 22 pounds versus 8.5. That made him an anomaly. Not much competition there except for Sham, his rival. His heart weighing in at 18 pounds. But secretariats body was perfectly constructed to handle the stress his heart put on every inch of him. The size of his heart supposedly wasn’t discovered until after his death. Sorry to go on about it…
Thank you! As a girl, I was "horse crazy" and used to read horse racing books. I need to go back now and watch the movie about him. I knew he was supernatural, but I didn't realize how much so. The size of his heart and his lungs would tell a great deal about his abilities. I went to the Kentucky Derby a later year and watched the races. It is a fun time!
Last year I worked in a rural hospital pharmacy and the deputy manager had her own horse and so did one of the technicians!
They tell their horses neigh to too many mints though!
I was horse crazy, too, but I never made it to the Kentucky Derby. I bet that was fun! Enjoy the movie!

English history is very interesting. So many of us have our roots from the area. I remember when Michelle Obama hugged the queen not knowing that no one touches the queen. Her highness kept her cool. Very 😎.

hahaha i think there love story is quite romantic they are suited and stuck it out all that time just shame diane was jn the cross fire he married her out of duty they needed a virgin pure well bread bride she was a caring soul but had too many obstacles in her path and her persinality wasnt strong enough a cancerian unlike us strong Leos we are invincible Leo the lions king of the jungle we wear our own crowns LOL 🤣

with all due respect, Diana had mental health issues and at one point anorexia. She was a great humanitarian and involved in issues like AIDS Awareness among others. Her two sons William and Harry have taken on humanitarian causes as well.
I wont be doing anything special but I will be watching it on TV as its a big historical moment in my life and I love all the history and ceremony. I live near London and would love to be up there to get the atmosphere but I don't like crowds and my dodgy knees and hip wouldn't cope anyway 😁

I am now enjoying watching the black horse calvary which they are trying to march in-line but because they are spooked occasionally by bystanders, it is not always possible. Where is their respect for this new king?! (LOL)

So much for the pomp and circumstance of the black horse cavalry! Overall, I think horses have little respect for royal occasions. I suspect the King will have to talk to the horses about this attitude problem!

I miss the fancy hats and outfits worn in Britain for their races. The US doesn’t pomp up as much.

He sure did. I really admired the way he sat there for ages, crown on head, holding both sceptres. And managed to stand up without any help. Which is more than I can do lol.
That is one thing I always liked about the Kentucky Derby ...the summer hats the women wore! Too bad what happened this year with all the horses dying. It was a bad year for the race. Do they know why this happened?
I think it's possible that the horses have been more spooky recently, as they have not (due to Covid), had the extra de-sensitising of Bellowed orders, marching bands and crowds lining the streets, cheering. I noticed it when watching several parades, etc, for Trooping The Colour and the Queen's Funeral.
The horses will be familiar with the carriages and some of the quieter aspects, but during rehearsals (at night), they wouldn't have experienced the bright colours, Cheering and the Flags waving. I noticed on the way to the Abbey that the newest of the Drum Horses was acting up, but he hasn't been with them long, and I am pretty sure it was his first big event! Probably a big shock for him , coming from a very quiet farm in Wales!

Historical day, I actually remember the Queens Coronation in 1953 😳 I was 5years old, and my Dad bought our first tv a small black and white one so we could watch it, we were the only ones in the street with a tv. and all the neighbours came in to watch it with us, wonderful memories, and here we are 70 years later , watching Charles become King 🤴
I certainly won't be watching as I am anti inherited privilege as it just causes social divisions in our society and is an impediment to true democracy.
I am always amazed how a government can find huge sums of taxpayers money immediately for the rich elites yet the coffers are always empty for everyone else.
I would much rather the huge sum was was used to build homes for the homeless and donated to foodbanks so children haven't got to go hungry for a while.
All those outside the UK please don't be fooled by all the endless flag waving cheers to think we all love to bow and scrape to royalty as the establishment love to give that impression to the world.
The fact is there are some who are very much for monarchy and some also against it, but most people aren't really bothered at all and have a more apathetic view.

I have no interest in 'Royalty'. He's a human being like the rest of us. He's given huge amounts of money for doing nothing. He represents Wealth Inequality which is ruining the Planet. I don't know why people have the need to worship other people. I find it disgusting.

I think Toddzen is talking about monarchy from against inherited privilege rather than for or against the individuals in it. There is a big difference.
I am not for or against any of the individual members of the royal family itself but speaking on an objective level not a subjective one.

I wouldn’t say he does nothing, he’s helped lots of youngsters through his Princes trust all over the world, and , and raises £100 million annually for the charity , and was a keen environmentalist before most people ever heard of it , I’d rather have the royals than some I can mention

Should be like the Dutch Royal Family, some of them actually work for a living, treat him more like a figurehead, not thousands of acres and millions spent on them! That sort of thing Toddzen ?
I would be much more likely to accept our monarchy if they were like all the other European royals instead. There are too many of them and they cost us far too much. There is no need for all this money to be wasted on them.
The king does earn a lot of his own money through the Duchy of Cornwall and Lancaster , which earn millions annually
Saturday is my day of escape few beers pool watch the football but sport is all over the place because of it just as well my local is less supportive to the royal family but hey the ones who love it all hope they have a good weekend.

i hate it when my soaps emmerdale. corrie are all over the place due to as they say important footy matches lol ill peep at england in final if get there but detest all sport exept my swimming,i used to play darts in my local thats it dad was a champion he got lots trophies i still have them 😁

Street parties everywhere. Watching spectacular ceremonial and pageantry on tv unmatched anywhere else. British royalty is like our one-thousand year old cathedrals. They may have lost much of their original purpose but they are icons of our identity. And of course they are big money earners through the overseas tourists they attract.🤗

Overseas visitors do not come just because we have a living monarchy. They come like tourists the world over for the history and the sights.
France get more tourists than we do and we know what happened to their royals.... lol
A palace or castle devoid of a royal resident is an empty thing compared with a palace or castle which is the home of a living King or Queen.

It is now 2:00 am in Portland, Oregon (8 hours behind London), and I am watching the preshow of the coronation of King Charles III. Because nobody, but nobody, puts on a show like the British do with all the pomp and circumstance! (I watched all of the episodes of "The Crown" because I love history! My Dad went to the London School of Economics in the 1950s, so I am sure he is also home watching this.)
I stayed up until 5:30 am (PST) for the coronation—a lovely ceremony with the many choirs, the symphony orchestra, and the 5-pound crown.
I'm watching , too . I love it all. So much to see. Enjoy ! 🇬🇧
i may catch a bit on tv but really not fussed about it, think i will head down the beach, look for drift wood and sea glass

If you are talking about the Kentucky Derby, I am not sure why so many horses died. I have been reading the newspapers but haven't found anything. I probably should dig deeper into Mr. Google.

I am sure you are right! As greyhounds are also mistreated in dog racing. Humankind is often very cruel to the very animals they use to make money!
Exactly. I think dog racing has been banned, but I’m not sure. I was going to google it, but I was sidetracked for a few moments.
I am not sure if it is banned here in the States. It was still going on when I lived in Colorado in the 1980s. I remember hearing reports about how they would starve the dogs during the days of the races to make them want to run faster after the mechanical bunnies. I am sure it was a cruel way of doing business.
It’s illegal in 40 states now and on its way out. It’s completely banned in the UK. 👏

Yes, I watch for 3.5 hours until King Charles III got back into his carriage, then I went to bed. In my area, there were repeats for the next two days of the Coronation ceremony on T.V.
