have any of you ever felt like your antidepressants never work? no matter what the dose or medication is? people tell me therapy will help which normally I’m all for but my therapist has a waitlist and I’m not comfortable starting with someone new. what would you do if you were me?

Hi WillowGrace...if I were in your position and I have been in the past, I would turn

my focus to YouTube while waiting. That is my "go to". I've learned so much through

the videos on there. Meditation and Breathing exercises are great but also the videos

made by Psychologists and Psychiatrists talking you through different issues.

"Therapy in a Nutshell" is just one of the many videos by a therapist that have a

lengthy list of help. Times have changed now in that we can't just wait hopelessly

for our doctors or therapists to see us. While we wait we can learn and maybe find

some help which will benefit you. :) xx

I would not give up on finding the right medication. It took a year for me to finally find an antidepressant that worked after trying several. Also, don't be afraid to switch doctors. My first psychiatrist acted like he didn't care. I searched for another one right away. My current doctor is great, I appreciate her so much.

I took a DNA test to see which medications would work best for me. After 25 years, I had tried over 15+ different medications. I was able to learn that my ADHD med wasn’t the best for me and that Trintellix was a good one for my depression. It cost me about $300 but was worth it. Some might say they aren’t accurate but it gives me confidence that I have right combination. It also said that my old med would cause weight gain, which it had and my new one wouldn’t and I’ve lost the 25 pounds I had put on.

I’ve had to change therapists several times. What I did was type up my history in detail and send it to them so that I don’t start totally from scratch. I’m 50 and this past year I had to get a new therapist and I was able to send her my 17 pages of mental history and it saved a lot of getting to know you time. If this happens again, I just have to update my history from the last time I wrote it. You are young, hopefully you don’t have 17 pages yet.

I appreciate this. Thank you! I’m definitely gonna look into that DNA test. Someone actually just recently brought this up to me!

My antidepressants haven't worked for years. I was hopeless and suicidal. I found out about daily doses of Ketamine and my life is changing. The Company is called 'Joyous'. Ketamine is a fast acting antidepressant. It works in five minutes. My whole body feels blissful and life is good. I don't want to die anymore. It's only $129. a month. Ketamine IV treatments are $500 for one session! I did 15 treatments and was still very depressed and hopeless. Spent $7000. It's the daily dose that works.
