What to do! Adult Daughter suffers from anxiety attacks.

hi, new to this group but have a question. My adult daughter suffers with anxiety and has severe panic attacks. She is in counseling DBT and is on medications and is very accomplished but when I see this I don’t know what to say or do. I need to not make it worse. Any suggestions ?

Hello, welcome to the forum. I’m not sure what to say, but I’m sorry no one else has responded to your post yet. Please keep posting, sometimes it takes time for people to know you and know more about your situation. I’ve had times where no one responded to my posts either.

I am sorry too that no one has responded to your post. And also don’t have much to offer. My daughter suffered from mental illness too. It was painful to watch. But she was the one who had to seek help. When it was too much for me to handle, I had to get some counseling of my own. Good luck.

I've had a lot of experience with anxiety and panic attacks and actually found getting over the panic attacks relatively easy after learning what was really going on and how to constructively deal with them. My suggestion is you get her the DARE Anxiety book and have her watch their youtube videos, you can also have her watch the youtube videos/website of Paige Pradko. Both offer good, simple, clear explanations of anxiety/panic and how to heal them. I found a lot of therapists said they knew how to treat panic/anxiety but they really didn't. Your daughter may also suffer from perfectionism which is common with panic and can find good info on youtube about it and how to deal with it. She may also benefit from medication at least temporarily.
