I have been diagnosed with severe anxiety and clinical depression. Sometimes when I get stressed and anxious I feel very uncomfortable maintaining eye contact while engaging in conversation. So I try to avert my gaze away from the persons face. But they often misunderstand and get annoyed at me. Is this normal?

I remember doing this. I'm sure it was shame based.
I knew I was getting better when I noticed myself looking at people.
Therapy and meds got me there

I drink this all the time. It helps a lot☺️
I never make eye contact with anyone. I suppose some people get annoyed with me. I think it’s normal for people with low self esteem or who are really self conscious about themselves.
Welcome to the platform. Just know that a lot people cannot understand what you are going through. Just do you and don't pay too much attention to what they think about you. Focus on you at this point.
