Hi everyone, I am new here. I have suffered with anxiety and depression my whole life. But yesterday I had a very scary panic attack that made me feel out of body and like I was going “crazy” and today my anxiety is through the roof scared I’ll feel like that forever/again. Just looking for people that have felt that way before and assurance that it won’t last forever.

Need Validation
I've only had one panic attack in my life, but I do have significant anxiety & depression. The only constant is change. Even though I'm doubting it myself lately, I know these awful feelings won't last. They may not go away soon... or for very long... but they won't last.
There are others here that can you relate to how you feel exactly.
I'm sorry you are struggling. Coming here is good.
It helps.

Good on you for reaching out for validation. Most won't like myself!! for instance. Your symptoms and experience will subside. Remind yourself it's only an emotion.
Welcome to the community. It’s a good place to be. You might want to lock your post, as some people won’t reply. At the bottom of the writing area, there is a place to designate to “Community Only.”
The last couple of weeks my anxiety has been very high, due to medication changes. I understand where you are coming from. Are you in therapy? On meds? What tools do you have to help?
Also, keep in mind, to use the PM function carefully and with discernment. Get to know someone before you engage.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Welcome to the group. I have had 2 panic attacks and they are awful. I hope you can get some relief soon. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time.
Experiencing a panic attack for the first time can definitely be scary. My suggestion is that you checkout the DARE Anxiety book and youtube videos or the youtube videos/website of Paige Pradko or the books and youtube videos of Dr. Claire Weekes. Panic/anxiety is our body's builtin warning system malfunctioning and you need to learn how to turn it off and desensitize yourself to the intense feeling of the adrenalin flowing through you. Once you understand what is really happening it helps lessen the fear and mystery about it. The panic is like a intense wave flowing through you but it will dissolve over time if you let it and don't fight or resist it. Dr. Weekes pioneered the idea of accepting, floating and not resisting and letting it flow through you which is simple and works. Panic/anxiety is a paradox, the more you resist and fight it the more it persists so the solution is to surrender and learn to not fear it.
Hi Anxiousnoodles and welcome. I have suffered panic attacks for years tho they are better controlled now. Everyone experience different symptoms and they can differ with each attack. Some have more physical symptoms, other more psychological. I have had both, but the feeling of losing my mind is far worse for me than the physical symptoms. I’ve experienced waking from a complete sleep to jumping up and running down my hallway for a brief moment of not knowing who or where I am, which then is followed by extreme physical symptoms. This can be very frightening if you are not used to it. You’re not losing your mind and you are not crazy although it’s hard to grip that fact in the middle of an attack. These attacks do not last. It’s your body and mind experiencing the fight or flight response to a perceived threat, be it real or imagined. There are many forms of treatment for panic attacks. Check with your doctor and educate yourself as best as possible on the fight or flight response and how to control it. I can assure you that you are not going crazy and that these attacks do not last longer than several minutes in most cases. Deep breathing and distractions help me. Best wishes to you.
