What do i do if my s/o is trying to protect me even though i dont want him to?

I've been trying to tell him i dont need his help but he just wont listen. And as myself im polysexual and i like this guy and ive told him about him, but he is just now telling lies about him and saying that the boy i like hates me and shit. And i get it he wants to protect me at all costs but i just dont need him too..
