Advice to people with suicidal thoughts

A friend of mine called me yesterday and told me that something bad has happened to him and he is feeling confused and want to give up on life. He said he is so tired of living and nothing good comes out of his life, I tried calming him down but it’s like his mind is already made up. Please i need advice on how to deal with his situation and take his mind off that negative feeling. All ideas are welcomed

I would say he needs professional help - GP or psychiatrist. He needs to be made safe.

Hot lines really do help if he'd be open to that. You could maybe tell him to breathe. "Like hey bud can you do me a favor and take 2 deep breaths before your next idea"
