I'm new to the community. I have been on Wellbutrin/Bupropion since 2020. I feel like it may not be working as well. Is anyone else taking this and if so, have you had success? I have depression and anxiety and wonder if I need another prescription. Thanks

Welcome to the community. I'm not on those specific meds but what I am on had to be adjusted quite frequently until the proper maintenance dose was found.
If things are feeling different you should probably speak with your Dr. It's something you want to start tweaking sooner rather than later
Oh man I had to jump in here. It is one of the meds that's supposed to help with hunger isn't it? I've been on a few of those. Unfortunately I never got the weight loss side effect
No weight loss for me either😒. The meds helped me for the first 5 years but now I am finding that I am down for too long and having a lot of negative thoughts. Then I stop taking it and it gets worse. Which is the worst thing I can do. It’s worth a try to change to a different med.
Me neither. Seeing the weight loss direction this thread's taken has given my an "aha, so that's why I'm not losing much weight!" moment. I didn't realize Wellbutrin was a drug with that as a side effect. I've been dealing with so much lately that I haven't been eating much at all. I've lost some weight, but not as much as I thought I would (and feel I have).
Hi thereIam going through the same thing right now. But iam getting bundled out by helping my mother with Alzheimer's disease right now. I have been crying since this happened to her
Hi, I was on Sertraline for many years and then we switched me over to Bupropion and Oxcarbazepine a little over a year ago. Both meds only seem to bring me to 50% of where I want to be Anxiety and Depression. I've just started TMS and hopping for the best.
I know that long wait feeling, I only talk to my NP every 3 months between appointments. if things get really dark for you helplines are there 24/7. In the meantime get outside and breathe, I like walking and photography.
Hope it works for you.I was thinking of buying one of those machines.
hey! I took Lexapro by itself for a year and then Wellbutrin was added to the mix. I have noticed some improvements with this. Dosage will be increased over time but I do believe it has helped.
I'm taking 300 mg bupropion XL once a day. I'm also taking 400 mg gabapentin 3 x day for anxiety. This combination got me to about 90% of feeling normal again. We then added 30mg dextromethorphan 2 x day, OTC cough med gel caps, and that has worked great! My doctor and I tried this combo because I took some Auvelity samples and felt like myself again in less than 2 weeks! Auvelity is a combination of bupropion XL and dextromethorphan. It was just approved last year and my insurance didn't want to cover it. Recently my doctor was successful in convincing my insurance company to cover it, so I was really happy to hear that! It costs about $1200 a month, but if your insurance will just cover any part of it, the manufacturer will discount it down to $10 a month. You may want to try it!
I used it 3 separate times in my life, and it worked well for me. I still felt some sadness and anxiety, but it was definitely more manageable than without it. Without it, I couldn't function and couldn't get myself to even get up.
I tried one Zoloft pill, but I had a really terrible reaction to it. I don't know what's in the medicine, but my heart started racing and I had very extreme thoughts that I was going to die. I called the doctor right away and got off that immediately.
Greetings - I started Wellbutrin/Bupropion at 150mg and it was miserable. I was unable to sleep and very hyper and edgy. I switched to 75mg which did not seem to have much impact. Now I am taking 100mg and I think it is helping somewhat better. It seems to have a more noticeable effect . I would rate it as a 6.5/7 out of 10. I do wonder if I should nudge the dosage up a little more but want to give 100mg dose more time. I am also in therapy which helps a great deal. Having to experiment with the dosage is a common thing as these types of meds work different for different folks.
Hi. I have been on Wellbutrin for a few years. It has been going well with taking it. Like others have replied, meds are hit or miss. Your doctor should be able to help here. Sometimes the dosage needs to be adjusted increased or decreased. Good luck with this 🤞
I have found over the years that my meds stop working as well and I have to transition to another one. Which one works is very individualized, so I'd reach out to your doctor for their suggestions. Just make sure you wean down slowly and ideally go up on the new med at the same time to minimize side effects.
