sick almost all of the time

If I get two weeks in without feeling sick im lucky when I go into doctors and tell them my symptoms ( that I keep getting sick with cold/flu symptoms like headache body aches my skin hurts, drained feeling ) they either tell me they don’t know or it’s some virus ( but it’s like I’m constantly getting sick, I’m going to keep track with date and a journal of symptoms) one doc said he thought I had an autoimmune disorder when he looked at the “perplexing” bloodwork but I had none of the symptoms he asked me about and I’ve had a lot of bloodwork done over the months and years and that was the only doc who read it this way …I think I may be allergic to foods… I can keep track of what I eat and how I feel too.

I guess I just am frustrated and scared and want to vent and see what people think.

Don’t worry even though you’re gonna worry. But it’s most likely all anxiety and it’s just presenting in different forms physically. I’m telling you as much as I understand it I don’t. Cause it still makes no sense how it can physically make you feel all kinds of wacky crap. Big hug. XO

I also have times when my neck, shoulders and head ache. My skin gets itchy and my joints bother me. No energy, etc. Anxiety takes a toll on our bodies. We have to heal and wait for a glimpse of times when we can relax and do just that. As I get older, I find these symptoms are more prevalent. Life can be tough and we have to stay resilient, but that’s not always easy. Knowing we are not alone and in the company of friends who understand helps me. Big hugs to you!❤️

yes! Sometimes joints for me too. Thank you I’m sorry you go through this too but I feel less alone ♥️

It’s a horrible feeling isn’t it, I have fibromyalgia which is a chronic pain disease, has any Dr suggested this, it also causes lots of other things as well as pain, if you google it , it doesn’t show up in blood tests, it’s more a case of eliminating other things.

Starrlight profile image
Starrlight in reply toArymretep

Oh I’m sorry you have it. Thanks I’ll look it up. No one had ever mentioned it.

Hi Starrlight, I agree with Arymretep, in that it could very well be Fibromyalgia.

No blood tests can determine it but a Rheumatologist can usually go by the

number of Trigger Points and where they are placed in the body.

Fibro develops from chronic stress, sleep deprivation and weather changes.

I have it myself but have learned to live with now. It can be a very debilitating

and painful disorder. I'm sorry you suffer so much. :) xx

Thank you. I read there is no cure. I hurt today got only one hour to sleep last night … cold weather rolling in - all the signs…

Hi Starrlight, I wanted to get back to you regarding the pain and symptoms of

Fibro. When I first experienced the pain, I thought I was dying..that is until

I saw my Rheumatologist. Water therapy was recommended which did wonders for

me. I was explained what I needed to know about Fibro and that it was not a deadly

disease but a disorder that would not shorten my life or end my life but would make

a difference in how I led my life.

I learned words that I had never heard of before with physical therapy and occupational

therapy. All with regards to chronic pain.

It's the not knowing what is happening that adds more stress to our pain syndrome.

We learn more about how our body responds to movement, weather changes and

stress levels. We learn more about how to prevent a flare up rather than fear it.

During this time periods is when I learned about Reiki, Self-Hypnosis, Biofeedback

and of course Meditation. Meditation took on a broader view than just a momentary

relief. It became part of my life, part of my control. Knowing for sure what you are

dealing with is an important first step. Is it Fibromyalgia/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome??

Don't allow someone to throw it in the basket of Anxiety/Depression...these pains are

real but can be eliminated or reduced by our frame of mind in living with this disorder.

Since Fibro was so new when I got diagnosed, I became the Poster Person for Fibro

and was able to help others through my Rheumatologist and my own experience dealing

with it.

It's going to be okay Starrlight. :) xx

Keeping a journal of your symptoms is a great idea. I would also note in the journal weather changes. Storms, extreme changes in temperature...things like that. Have you thought about going to an allergist to be tested? That might be a faster way to get answers about what foods you could be allergic to. I won't tell you it's a virus because I know how infuriating that is. I have been there. Try to keep a routine and get as much rest as you can. I hope you get some answers soon. HUGS ❤️

I also keep track of every little thing I drink and eat.. the inside with my head tells me I'm going to be allergic and have reactions to everything, but I just track it and see that I'm fine. It's a vicious cycle of a fight or flight, whether I should eat or ignore the hunger pains because I'm scared I'll have a reaction

You might be in to something with the food allergies theory. It just might help you figure things out by tracking food and your symptoms. Even a mild intolerance can throw things off in the body. Allergies/intolerances can contribute to an overall "wiped out" feeling with symptoms similar to the flu and/or discomforts in the skin. Also, perhaps ask your doc about potential gallbladder issues. I have read/heard that can sometimes be to blame. I am NOT a doc. But I have had food issues. And I notice that when I'm more stressed about life, the symptoms are magnified. Stress means more cortisol and other stress hormones in the body, and adding food allergies or intolerance can magnify symptoms. Good luck in your quest for answers. Keep looking. You know yourself best.

I got bacterial meningitis of my brain from chronic sinusitis in May 2014. It has been a journey to recovery. I have and had medical issues plus anxiety depression ptsd. These can make my health worse when stress increases. I had and still have to distinguish between the 2.

Hi Star. Sleep deprivation makes you more susceptible to colds and viruses by weakening the immune system. It’s so important but hard to do. Also vitamins like C and D, Zinc can help.

You can go and have a sensitivity test on the skin of your forearm. Apart from pollen, gluten and dairy, it can test for other very common sensitivities like potatoes, sugar and pine - nuts and cleaners and air sprays that smell of pine and many other things, like cigarette smoke, that surround us in life. I'm surprised it hasn't been suggested. I don't know whether the NHS wold do this. When my ex had tests in the eighties, we had to pay and I had to do a rotation diet for him, where everything he ate had to be cut out in turn for several days. This meant, for instance, having cooking oils of every possible type from olive oil to rape, which is generally considered to be the least allergenic. It turned out that the only meat he could eat was lamb but he was basically vegetarian anyway (we were actually more compatible than my present partner!) He had asthma, fibromyalgia and arthritis, tinnitus and mandibula neuralgia, involving the vagus nerve, which probably played a big part in all of this because it connects the face to the stomach. In general, people with worrisome sensitivities or allergies had a sensitivity to their favourite food. Sorry, and sorry this might be more information than you need.

Starrlight profile image
Starrlight in reply toMaggieSylvie

Great info and so interesting Thank you. My son cannot eat meat. My kids are slightly allergic to wheat but they still eat some because it’s in so many things.

MaggieSylvie in reply toStarrlight

Hi Starrlight, I'm glad you found it interesting. I forgot to mention petroleum - that's anything that contains it and the smell of it. It seems that many people who at first seem to have only one or two sensitivities turn out to have several more, and if one needs to be gluten free, there is no way that anything containing it can be eaten, even if just on one occasion or because it's contained in something else. It's a difficult life for coeliacs but much easier these days with the gf aisle in supermarkets, and the bought bread is so much better than when they had to bake their own and it was like rubber.
