Just joined - Hi
Hello, welcome! 🙂
You've found a great community, (most) people are super friendly and can relate and you'll get good advice if you ask.
I cope with medications and distractions. I'm working on healthier avenues
"I’m dealing with a lot of anxiety . It’s hard to talk about"
I get it. Some people understand physical pain, but not mental pain.
.
That's where this community is useful, is that a lot of us here understand the mental pain part, but still trying to figure out what works for them.
And there are some good people here that have found what works for them, and just trying to help others. To those people, (unfortunately I still have a long way to go in my recovery) but to those people (and you know who you are), you are very underappreciated in this community.
Welcome! We are glad you’re here!
This group is very helpful. There are many people here with stories of hope that will inspire you to keep going.
There is a light at the end of the tunnel! Just keep traveling the path!
I too have lots of anxiety. I cope w a variety of skills, my anxiety toolbox. I've recently found Qigong, which is like Tai Chi, which, like yoga, helps to expell excess anxiety from the body and the mind. I also meditate. I use the Insight timer app, it has 1000's of free meditations that you can choose from based on your mood. It has a journal feature if you like that, as well. I like a form of yoga called yoga nidra which is between asleep and awake. I like Ally Boothroyd's vids on YouTube as I find her voice soothing. I also use breathing techniques. There's lots online; I use the 4 square technique. I breathe in for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, breathe out for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4, repeat until better. I also use medications. I take antidepressants. I also use propranolol, a beta blocker, that helps block the physical symptoms of anxiety. I also have a prescription for xanax, only a few a month, but they're my big emergency go-to. Sometimes just knowing I have them is enough to get me through a panic attack.
Hi and welcome. So many good tools for nipping anxiety and panic. Dark horse talked about the breathing exercises. I do that religiously as well and it helps a lot. Just regulating your breathing and practicing it gives you a calmer system overall which can help decrease anxiety. Also listening to calming guided meditation at least once a day.
It may seem obvious, but I take a walk when I feel a bout of anxiety coming on. Getting outside allows me to gain a bit of perspective and see things in a different light. Change my view of things and alter my perception. Kinda brings me a back to normalcy.
Hi and welcome. You'll find people on here whom you can relate too. Anxiety is not nice to suffer with. I get really anxious about things i really shouldn't, like going to the hairdressers, getting my nails done getting my tattoos done, all places I've been going to for years and know the people like friends. It's horrible.
