Online therapy recommendations

I live in a rural area w no real access to therapists, and my depression and anxiety are a bit out of control lately and I need someone professional to talk to. I don't have a lot of $$ to spend, but if it's worth it, I'll try online therapy. Has anyone tried it? What companies have you used and liked and why?

A while ago I got hooked up with a local agency that has case management, psychiatrists, therapists... it has some programs for drug rehab. The people there have been hit or miss but I've gotten a LOT of help and am currently doing everything through telemedicine.

I would start with your local jobs and family services, even if they don't have something for you they may be able to point you towards resources that could help you find what you need. I began getting help through a local agency and since I was disabled I was able to pay next to nothing, though a lot of places can charge you on a sliding scale, based on your income.

sondermind was pretty good. If you are cash the fees are pretty clear. Insurance might cover it. A lot of insurance companies cover teledoc which includes therapy. I did it for a couple months but I wasn’t in a place to really get much….I find all therapists to be very individual. You have to meet and see if you connect.

I have used this website called Affordable Therapy Network. It lists all the counselors/therapists/interns who provide low cost or sliding scale rate psychotherapy, and usually they are virtusl due to the pandemic. Low cost can be anywhere from $45 to $60 for an hour. I highly suggest u check it out. There are amazing, qualified therapists listed on the site though it may take you awhile to look through their profiles to find the right fit. Best of luck!

hi, just wanted to say hope you try online therapy as it was a life saver for me and the therapist was very good. I’m in the uk so my therapy was free for which I’m very grateful for. Hope you find solace and peace soon. Sorry I couldn’t be of any help, just wanted you to know your not alone on this site. Hang on in there it will all come good

You were able to communicate and it felt therapeutic online? That's good to know. That was one of my big questions, like, can you even make a connection online? Thank you for letting me know 🙂.

Not sure how helpful this is, but you might look into 7cups.com

Thank you for the link. Do you use it? If so, do you like it? Is it worth it?

I have never paid them for therapy, although they do offer it. But they have MANY groups and chat rooms - including one that is busy 24/7. It is really a neat site, but I have never paid them for therapy.

There are so many places to choose from, do you have particular groups that you're a member of? Specific groups that you belong to? Is it like this forum? Sorry I have a million questions. I'm just struggling and trying to find help somewhere, but I'm kinda broke. I will spend the $$ if I have to though...

There are many groups - one for depression, one for anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenic (which I am), OCD, BPD, GAD, PTSD and many many others. Have you visited there yet? The only thing I don't like about them is that they have so many categories it is a little overwhelming and hard for me to navigate. There are lots of choices. If you can find a few that suit you, you could bookmark them so you won't have to find them again. That's what I have done.
