Try being still for a minute,

Here and now,

And just appreciating yourself for all that you are; an amazingly created being.

lol! It is hard to make the mind go blank… I’ve been practicing lately. You take a Buddhist class? Have a peaceful night. ✨🌙

in reply to Starrlight

not now i wish i could go again tho it was couple years ago my friend took me when her and her hubby went he had bad depresshion, i found it very mindful and helps to see things differently, the CDs are visualisation and theres a voice talking you through it,one is almost silent i have 3 one is sending love out you visualise some people friends or whoever and add to the group and send loving thoughts out and that they will be happy and at peace, it was a wonderful feeling, my mobile player is broke i must get a new one and do it in bed, you could get something like it on the internet 🤗🌟

No dreams again. The minute I told you all about them, now they are gone. Does this forum have magical powers? Budda class sounds interesting. I might be too high strung for that. Nice idea though. Good for you for being able to help clear your mind🙏

Your lovely post, I read your message and felt safe for just a few seconds.

Then I tried to take your advice. Nope, can't do it. I closed my eyes and took a slow, deep breath, and found myself counting off the seconds until I could open my eyes again. Hilarious. 🤪

Lol! You sound like me in getting just a few seconds of stillness, and that’s ok. That’s great you got the amazing feeling of safety…Sometimes in being still and thinking positive thoughts helps with calm and happy feelings surfacing on their own during the busy day.

Hahaha. I did get some things done today I've been wanting too, but I'm paying for it. Six of one...

Okay. I'll take your advice and value even just a few seconds of calm. Ain't what I'd prefer, I want the good times to just "come".

Starrlight in reply to Nothing_but_books

Great job! So sorry you’ll be psying for it. I am right now too. Not sure what is happening but I played Monopoly with my kiddos and maybe the way I sat or from earlier anxiety I am in pain all over my back and neck and shoulders.

Oh yeah a few seconds here and there of calm add up after a bit. Def give yourself credit.

I don’t know if what I did today worked or just out of the blue but I feel so great for the first time in a long time.

Try a hot pad for the body pains, or just a warm blanket. It always seems to help me a bit.

Terrific news! It's been a long time coming. Trying to figure out why you got better -- that's something I do all the time. Why, why, why? Most of the time I have no idea. No matter what the reason, I'm happy for you.

Starrlight in reply to Nothing_but_books

Awww thanks for the tips for pain. Yeah j was trying hard today to be at peace and happiness as some other days when it doesn’t work but suddenly this day I started feeling really good sensations in my body replacing the terrible ones. This happened after practicing being still.

My therapist btw today told me that if you sit and place palms down on the thighs and brush them up and down it’s supposed to help with trauma sensations. Give it a try. I think I’ll try it now.

… do it felt warm and nice but I am curious to how it feels when I’ve been triggered.

Nothing_but_books in reply to Starrlight

Do you mean to slide your palms toward your knees and back, or to pat them vertically?

Starrlight profile image
Starrlight in reply to Nothing_but_books

slide your palms toward knees and back like brushing thighs

I used your suggestion last night, when I was very bad. It helped a few moments. (Even just a few moments was nice.) I wasn't sure if I was doing it right, so I looked up this pdf. It has lots of self-help and coping ideas for trauma. 💜💜

Be still and know that everything is going to be OK.

Starrlight in reply to gerrerd

Hi! Yes everything is going to be OK. What peace that sentence brings … well unless I start overthinking and questioning it ha!

in reply to gerrerd

Any advice for someone who tries being still only to immediately start thinking about why it's so still....

gerrerd profile image
gerrerd in reply to

Just sit, go inward and sense your body, tell it to relax let go, release practise it will happen.

Thanks!

Starr,

As you say, we're all "created" beings. That means there is a "CREATOR".

It's only reasonable. We learn about Him & gain relief from undue anxiety.

Any thoughts on how to do this with tinnitus screaming in my ears? It is one of the biggest factors in not being able to settle in my mind.

You can look up natural remedies for tinnitus.
