Best Recommendations on a Weekend Away

Hi friends. I’m leaving this evening for a weekend road trip about 4 hours away. If you have read previous posts, I struggle a lot with anxiety and it always flares up majorly when I go on trips. We are leaving tonight and come back on Sunday. Is there any recommendations y’all have to get through a weekend away with anxiety? What helps you relax during a 4 hour car ride.

With my anxiety reassurance helps a lot. Is a weekend a long time to be gone?

A weekend away is a very short time to be away from home. Music helps me on road trips. Reading also is a great way to pass the time. Audiobook and podcasts may work as well, but test out the voice of the narrator to see if you can handle their voices for four hours. I hate driving. I’m better as a passenger, but since my nine year old can’t drive, I’m the chauffeur. All. The. Time.

Anti anxiety meds help. I take breaks when I drive. I stop and take pictures, visit small towns along the way, visit tourist bureau’s. Stopping the, “stuck in a car feeling,” is good. Get out of the car to eat.

Good luck to you and safe travels.
