My parents wanted to come over tomorrow, but Fridays are my writing days, so they will be coming on Monday instead. As much as I love them, it's tiring to have them over, so that was the boundary I set for myself, and it feels great!
So what are you doing for yourself (not others) this holiday weekend? And if it's just a regular weekend, what are you doing for yourself this weekend (because you should be kind to yourself every weekend anyway)?

Columbus Day. The discovery of America 🇺🇸. I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know it was this weekend/Monday. A red, white and blue dessert might be in order.
I'm so glad you're excited about spending time with your dad. When I use to have to work long hours, I cherished every moment my children actually wanted to spend with me.
My parents like to come over and meal prep food for me and clean up my yard. It's their "love language", so I accept it, even though my fridge gets overstuffed and I don't care much about the yard.
I think the holiday has been divisive in recent years, so hopefully it can be a harmonious holiday instead. My kids are Gen Z, my brother is a millennial, I'm Gen X, and my parents are just straight up Gen Old so it's a spectrum of opinions in our house.
American Indians originally “discovered” America. They were here first. I think that got lost somewhere in history. That’s as far as I should go with that for fear of a hot debate. I learned something today…thank you.
Canada fascinates me sometimes. I read a couple of Canadian authors, and Canada feels like a parallel universe. It feels like what the U.S. might have been without the American Revolution.
Wots a holiday? Have not had one in seven years and I'm nutty as a fruit cake🙃🤪😜ask my neighbours?😗😆😆😆I've got a 6 foot plastic skeleton in my hallway, all year round☠️
Not a 3 day weekend here in Ireland, but am actually going away for one night tonight with my husband. We do that a little bit more now kids are grown.
Homework. I'm seriously trying to find bachelor's programs with self-paced courses right now.
