side affects of anxiety and depression meds

hello everyone this is my first post. I’m wondering if anyone has had negative side effects from taking Wellbutrin and serotonin medications. I started the serotonin in April and then the Wellbutrin mid May. In June my husband walked in the door and told him I wanted a divorce out of the blue. We went to a lawyer and started the divorce. About three weeks later I seemed to snap out of whatever was happening and I was horrified and overcome with grief over what I had done I could understand why or what made me do it.

I’ve been on 12+ depression/anxiety medications and had side effects from almost all of them. They range from mild things like nausea and headaches to more severe things like brief blackouts. I’ve heard they can change personalities but I haven’t experienced that myself. Wellbutrin specifically just worsened my IBS.

If you decide to try other meds, have a support system in place that prevents you from making any important decisions until you know how the medication affects you.

Hi and good morning! I am one who is prone to seratonin syndrome so I did not have a good experience on Wellbutrin. Everyone's experience is difference but it is not usually recommended for anxiety. Ask your dr for the DNA test that will tell them which medicine will work best with you

Hi there, that's really interesting. I did something similar in a previous relationship while taking citalopram. I find these medications can make me quite emotionally numb for a while, or very irritable and otherwise unemotional. I find it wears off after a few months but it definitely something to be aware of. You are the first person I have seen comment on this so thanks 😊

Citalopram made me want to get out of my skin… literally. Was totally weird. Also felt super spaced out, like I was just observing what was happening around me and not really a part of it. Made me puke too. A lot.

Switched after two weeks to something else - muuuuuch better. I sleep a lot more than I probably should, but I can deal with that.

I have been very sensitive to many psch meds including Wellbutrin. It caused me to be manic and very disoriented. It also caused severe anorexia which caused me to be hospitalized. It worsened my already severe anxiety. I hope you can get things figured out so you can feel better. Is there any chance your husband would go to counseling with you to better understand what is happening and possibly you could stop the divorce proceedings if you haven’t already. Wishing you the best.

we did stop the divorce proceedings but it has left a huge scar. I will definitely try and get him to attend a meeting with me that’s a wonderful idea

Oi- tell me about side effects - my reaction to Celexa was so severe that my doctor took me off it after a week, since I was completely dysfunctional.Tremors, anxiety through the roof, diarrhea that lasted for weeks afterward, dry mouth so bad I could barely talk.

I said never again, but years later I had depression/anxiety again, and was prescribed Pristiq. The only thing I dealt with was diarrhea again, which eventually calmed down after a bit.

Yes, sometimes the cure is worse than the condition! It's important to keep trying until you find something that works, though.

Hi. I know this post is old, but I’m wondering how you are. I’m trying to keep my relationship as well after disassociating in panic and apparently upsetting my partner enough to possibly leave me. I hope you are well and would love any suggestions you may have.
