I'll share something goofy with everyone. So last year I purchased one of these robot vacuum thingies. The point was to run the vacuum and it would free me up to do other things around the apartment. Laundry, cleaning the bathroom, tending to the bedrooms or even going out to run errands.
I hate vacuuming so this was supposed to be my golden gun for cleaning. There's only one teeny, tiny little problem. Every time I run the damn thing I get hypnotized. I actually sit and watch this thing go back and forth, back and forth, up and down, every which way and I don't get anything done. I remember years ago I had a huge fish tank and the same thing would happen. I could sit and watch these silly fish run around endlessly. It's almost like you can't look away.
I'll tell you the crazy thing, I'm sure most won't believe it, but at times I actually feel a bit calmer after watching this thing run around. What!.... I used to pay a therapist good money and 9 times out of 10 would leave therapy almost as bad as I walked in. But this machine actually helps with stress. Yeah, I don't know how to explain it..... Weird, weird!
I love it! It’s so interesting what puts the mind at rest or into a calm state. Sounds, touch (weighted blankets), sunshine, fresh air… robot vacuums 😁. I say you got two for the price of one: a vacuum and a soothing machine. Just don’t let it be a time suck and zone out for hours 😁
You said it friend. Unbelievable how some things out of nowhere can grab your attention and soothe the mind. Go figure. And like you said, it is a huge time suck. So far it's had the complete opposite result as far as being as efficient as I can with housework. Maybe I should go back to watching fish swim around....🤣
Interesting observation on your part. Have you ever been hypnotized by a real hypnotist, I would be curious how affective it would be on you. I've never tried it although I did do hypnotherapy for a while and wasn't convinced it was working on me.
My Mom says she would like to have one of those little vacuums. I’ve been through therapy in the past. Sometimes it helped, but other times I’m not sure it did. I’m trying to get some therapy now, I think I need it. At the community health place I go to there’s a waiting list for individual therapy, but I just talked to a social worker and she’s going to see if I can go to this group therapy thing they have going on once a week that talks about dealing with trauma. I’m not sure about going to group therapy, there’s things that I’d rather have more privacy talking about, everyone doesn’t need to know my business, but I’m willing to try something. Someone is supposed to call me about it sometime next week.

Hi, I understand how you feel about group therapy. But maybe you can give it a chance. I was not keen on doing group therapy but once I did, I found that it was very therapeutic. Just listening to other people face to face help me a great deal. I would ask that you give it a try and if you don't like it you can always stop
