amitriptyline - Any tried and Finns it helped?

I have been on this forum a number of times..I’ve been ill with anxiety and depression for 3 years, trued everything and nothing has helped, only worsened my anxiety. I’ve had enough, I’m worn out and in constant pain now which I’ve never suffered from before. I’m going into hospital next week and I’m going to try Amitriptyline as the psych thinks that because I have so many pain related health problems now it should have a good chance of helping both. Any positive experiences? I’ve tried it at 10mgs fir4 weeks and had a lot of side effects mainly tachycardia but the psych says this time It’s about trying it for longer to see if it resolves. At this point I’m desperate because I’m pretty much bed bound with this, complete breathlessness and exhaustion xxxx thank you ❤️

Hi Vicss, Amitriptyline is an older drug that has been successful for chronic pain as

well as depression. When you are in the hospital, they are able to play around with

the dosages under a safer place. Finding the right dosage can be the key in allowing

you to live more productively both physically and mentally.

31 years I’ve had chronic stomach pain due to anxiety then I feel depressed when I am sick all the time. No meds have really helped me much. I went on amitryptline for a couple of years all it did was make me gain weight. I do remember when I first started it I had 9 pain free days which is miraculous for me. But as I continued on and my Dr increased dose I never got much more pain relief then I initially did. Eventually I was taken off of it because it didn’t help. I’ve tried Ketamine infusions within the last 2 Years basically that’s the only drug so far that I can say I have actually gotten pain relief from.

It is good for pain and didn't make me drowsy the next day.

Plus it's an antidepressant .
