Dealing with Phobia?

It is sad to experience fear. It is one of the fastest and most powerful destroyers of human peace and body. While this emotion is complex and an over-simplification will do no good. Nevertheless, I would ask, since fear is caused by sets of stimuli dependent on a context, what can you say is the cause of making you scared my friend? And, since these stimuli are threat-related which causes a pattern of adaptive behaviour which includes insomnia, mental strain, fretfulness, inattention, lack of peace and so on, responses that humans indulged in as coping mechanisms to tackle this joy-stealer.

While there are different kinds of fear. I know that the majority of what makes us scared does not exist in reality. They are but psychologically constructed emotions (some may disagree) just like a table cannot be revealed by investigation in physics but is socially constructed. Have you observed that those who have claustrophobia or aerophobia if they could somehow fall asleep in a confined place or flying object, and wake up to meet the reality of the non-existence of their fear? At the same time, others devoid of such condition experience no such phobia or reality although being in the same situation. Then the emotion is associated with our Individual experiences, history, gene, and psychological state. We may ask what about the fear of animals— a wild dog or a lion for example. We can say that fear interfaces in the mind between threat and responsive behaviour, therefore, it exists even before any encounter with an animal.

Therefore, I ask again, what makes you scared? How long have you had it? Can you associate any experiences with the inception or any type of triggers? These are but a few questions that would need answers for progressive steps.

I would suggest you engage in or more in daily meditation on the reality of the non-existence of your fear. Avoid seeing movies or reading books that make you prone or vulnerable to such fears. Spend time with those who reinforce a positive mindset and a courageous walk against and over fear, and, if you are a religious person, pray.

Great ideas. Meditation is key for me.

When I was reading the part about human fear of animals I started thinking about an animal's fear of predators. They have natural instincts to deal with fear.

Some of us have learned behaviors from past experience to deal with our fear. It may not be based on our present situation but we have built a wall of protection..... just something that came to mind
