Tipa for getting over past failures?

I have let my past failures of ~5 years ago bring me into a dark place where I have cut myself off from the world. I have no friends, my mom is the person i’m able to talk to, but being a male makes that more difficult as she doesn’t fully understand certain things in my life. this post is not a pity party. I just am not able to understand or find a meaning in life beyond what I used to know. I have lost 15 pounds in 2 years, and only just today have been professionally diagnosed with both anxiety and depression. I just have a long lasting feeling of regret for my actions of my past and feel like I ruined the only good thing going in my life. Since then in 2017, my life has been consistently downhill and everytime i believe i’m starting to get back on track, something happens that restarts this cycle all over again. I just wish I would be able to accept it for what it is and understand that there is more out there for me to achieve, but it just doesn’t seem realistic in my eyes. Sorry for the rant, it’s 4am where I am and i’m up with raging thoughts. All are welcome to reply and any tips help.

Little by little. Remember it is a journey. A setback is just part of life. Every successful person has had a bunch of setbacks and mistakes. Nobody gets to cruise through it and actually learn life’s lessons. A good book is atomic tasks by James clear. Self resilience is a good skill too (note I said skill not talent). Brenè brown teaches this. She has a whole program called gifts of imperfection.

Regarding repetition … when it doesn’t work change how you are doing it. Otherwise you just repeat the same cycle.

Hi @futuretravels I'm so sorry you've had to deal with so much and you feel things are not getting better. I just want to encourage you not to give up and trust that despite what has happened there can be light at the end of the tunnel for you.

I know it can be hard to forgive yourself for past mistakes but the fact that you do regret your past actions suggest that you are remorseful for it and that's a good place to start. You can begin afresh, you can choose a different path, you have the power within you to start making different choices for your life. I suggest you consider counseling to help you process what has happened and the best way forward.

I pray the near future brings you wisdom and strength to go forward with no more regrets. Sending you much peace.
